I'm not a fan of it. 48hrs seems much. 24hrs i can understand. The only real gripe I have: How the heck am I supposed to keep track? I post A LOT. I can only see my last 5 thread replies from my page, and unless I ping myself I have no way of knowing when EXACTLY 48hours have gone by (what if I have a bad memory?). And what if I do my math wrong and post a bump by accident. Seems a bit discriminatory to sales and items. 24hours just seems a lot easier to keep track of, especially with growing site numbers. Edit: An extremely good point was brought up as well that I feel attention should be drawn to:
I'm more generally concerned that this could potentially lead to an excess of new topics. Even with everyone being restricted to one bump every 48 hours, a thread falling off the front page means it has practically no chance of being seen. I can see people abandoning their old threads because of the time limit and instead making new ones, which would completely defeat the point of excess posts and just make it a pain for everyone in general.
Edit 2: We have an admin reply to the conversations taking place here on page 6 of the thread and throughout the rest of the pages after that. There is an understanding that adjustments may need to be made to this rule in the future, and our views are being heard. :) My newer suggestion: Perhaps some other large, active website forums could be observed in terms of their setup if Flight Rising is seeking to address some forum issues? Also, fix forum search!
And honestly, I feel like most users who suggested the alternative "24 hours, not 48" we got were just trying to get at least some sort of compromise, thinking that asking for a lowering rather than demand for outright removal would be listened to more. I don't think they thought that 24 hours was really what they wanted, it was just less of what they didn't, if that makes sense. I think people were so desperate for some sort of change to this rule that they shortchanged themselves for it.
^ I agree with this, for it is how I felt when I initially suggested the 24 hour rule.

The exception to this rule are the following boards, where you may bump as often as you like:

Item Sales Forum
Dragon Sales Forum

Don't worry you can still bump your hatchery as much as you want.

@mrmoon

That's a bit presumptuous. My hatchery is actually in Trade, since I accept trades.

I'm afraid this'll hurt the Skin sales boards quite a bit. It's hard to keep threads active in there, and 48 hours is a while. The problem is, there's such a gap between the popular skin threads and the smaller ones that stuff'll just get lost.

I'm hoping that the admins get some serious community feedback on this and consider adjusting the policy.

Also (and correct me if I'm wrong since I hardly ever go there) isn't Dragon Sales one of the bump-iest boards?

Then move to dragon sales? Idk. Also there's handy dandy li'l time stamps on each post so you don't have to worry about doing math wrong. Just look at the date and see if it's been two days.

Imo, the rule should be also include dragons wanted, dragon trading, and skins and accents, since they're all similar to item/dragon sales. I also agree that it should be 24 hours. I feel like the rule was made to prevent people from continuously bumping their own dragon/item sales threads on in flight forums. Otherwise, there's not a lot of places I'd be bumping a thread.

@vhyxalas

It is, and I agree with you about the skins board.

@mrmoon

I already addressed that in the first post.

Other forums I can see this being fine for but trade and skins concern me. I think they should have been added to the exceptions personally and ive never had a complaint before. o.o

I agree that 48 hours might seem a bit too much.. They probably added this rule to keep the flight forums a bit free of the excessive sale threads that have been showing up

I feel like it was made only to combat dragon sales in the flight forums... so why not just ban those instead of the bumping of things?
I don't understand why the admins are so hesitant to tell people to get their spam out of our flight discussions board. Don't ban people from bumping the damn things every 30 minutes, tell them to take their sales threads to a sales forum. Problem solved.

Seriously, I don't feel like the other areas have a problem with bumping.
Every once and a while you'll get someone bumping their discussion or a really transparent attempt at dragon sales in the share area every three minutes or something, but it's a rarity and I don't feel it's a problem that warrants such a long bump limit.
