I don't understand all the hate that Obsidian iri/shim seems to get about being green. People say, why does it turn [i]green[/i] when it's [i]black?[/i] This has always confused me, because not only does it look [i]awesome[/i], but if you look at [b]ACTUAL[/b] OBSIDIAN it's ACTUALLY GREEN!!

*checks the scry* Probably because some breeds actually turn into a leaf with it rather than green-tint obsidian. Spiral's good. Fae's awkward rainbow. Skydancer is subtle. Windclaw wings and Snapper are leaves. I'd rather remove the gene entirely--more bold.

As long as you know how to make it work, obsidian iridescent can be very beautiful.

Real obsidian can be green-tinted (though it isn't always, I believe?) but it would be nice to be able to have shiny black dragons without some of them turning into green dragons. And without the puke-colored effect you get in things like female Guardians.
A lot of things that look fantastic with black look awful with all the green, so it kind of sucks a lot if you much prefer Iri to anything else.
ETA: Also the image you posted is a hell of a lot less green than a lot of Obsidian Iri dragons tbh?

It's not a general statement, depends on what that individual is looking for?
Just like with Ice Crystal, some people are going to love that it's way more blue and others won't!
Also, we have no alternate color for Black without a natural white belly, pretty natural for most people to shift to Obsidian to fulfill that.

I've always loved it. I love it with green secondaries because the green-tinted black just matches so well with other greens. I do the same with midnight and purple/blue secondaries.
