First of all, I'd like to say welcome to all the newcomers! I joined during the last open registration period in the beginning of June, and I thought I'd make this thread because there are things I wish I'd known when I first started out that could've saved me a lot of time, treasure, and embarrassment.
Never be afraid to ask questions! That's what we're all here for, and everyone I've ever met on this site has been more than friendly and welcoming. Think of your flight kind of like your Hogwarts house, which is full of people ready to help you out, back you up, answer questions, and show you around.
That being said, the Encyclopedia is where you can learn more about the lore of each breed of dragons, your deities, and other neat things! It's a lot of information, but I'd give it a read when you have some time. Here is a simple guide having to do with each flight (size, aesthetic, etc). Here is Nerd's Big Guide to Flights.
Here is a guide for lingo you may see around the site.
Here is a Breeding Guide that breaks down breeding mechanics in a way that's easy to understand. Here is a really useful offsite tool that will allow you to enter the colors of two dragons and see what the potential color spreads of your babies are!
Here is one of the most useful threads you may ever encounter if you're into gathering, and here is the Swipp Guide of what you'll need to get which items from Swipp in the Trading Post.
Here is Culex's Guide for leveling Coliseum Fighters. This is invaluable, and the Coliseum is one of the best ways to get items, rare apparel items, battle stones, and free, reliable food. Here is a guide to Experience Mechanics, which is super useful when leveling your dragons.
Here is an Exalting Guide, which will tell you how to level and exalt adult dragons for profit and (potentially) flight dominance.
Here is a guide for Familiars and where to find them.
Here is Nerd's Guide to making treasure and Fayrin's Guide for the same.
Here's a guide to the code used on the site.
And here's some general information.
And of course, if you have questions, you can always ask your flight's indivual forum boards, or ask the Help Thread.
Good luck, new players.

Here's a guide to the code used on the site.
And here's some general information.
- New dragons can be bought in the Auction House. You can also trade dragons at the Crossroads.
- You can NOT sell or trade your progenitors (the two dragons you started out with)!! You CAN exalt them, but they will NOT count toward Flight Dominance, nor will you get ANY TREASURE, no matter WHAT level they are!
- Pricing dragons (and items) to sell is a subjective business. Please be polite to your fellow members. Haggling over a price is not considered rude in most cases, especially if a member is asking for treasure and you have gems, etc. But do NOT direct mean comments at fellow players if you're of the opinion that they have priced something too high. Just scroll on and look for something more in your range.
- If you see items in the Auction House that are priced at, say, 99999999 treasure or gems, chances are, the seller does NOT actually intend for these items to sell. They likely PLACED them for sale under an outrageous price to prevent accidentally auto-selling something they consider important, since placing an item for sale on the Auction House removes it from your hoard temporarily. This will likely change with the upcoming feature that was announced a few days ago, known as The Vault.
- You can grab one item from Pinkerton per day.
- You can answer Tomo's Trivia once per day. (Here is a guide to the answers.)
- Swipp's Swap Stand refreshes every two hours.
- Crim's Collection Cart can be partaken of every hour.
- "Rollover" is the end of our Flight Rising day. At 12:00AM server time, the site will go down until 12:30AM for routine maintenance and other technical things. You will not be able to be online the site during that time, though you will be able to see the site and interact as an offline player.
- The Marketplace has a chance to refresh every five minutes. It may refresh, it may not. Each category refreshes individually. If one updates, not all of them necessarily will.
- "Sniping" is the term we use for waiting for the Marketplace refresh, and then quickly purchasing desirable items. This is very common for new or less-common items and can be frustrating. New items will often be sold at an inflated price in the Auction House. Don't worry if you can't get a new item—some sellers will sell at Marketplace Price, but others will not. The best remedy for this inflation is time and a little patience, or having some friends with a fast internet connection.
- Familiars, Apparel items, and Battle Stones can usually be bought for MUCH CHEAPER in the Auction House.
- The "sell price" of an item is usually NOT what that item is worth. Do not listen to the sell price. It is lying to you and you may sell an item cheaply that is actually worth MUCH MORE to the community. The best place to figure out what an item is worth is the Item Sales thread. Look around and see what people value certain items at.
- You don't necessarily have to buy Gems with real money to get gems. Gems can often be bought for Treasure in the Item Sales thread (see above) though the rate changes. Keep an eye on the Item thread to see what the current Gem Conversion Rate is. You can also get gems in Iron Chests, Gilded Chests, and very rarely, you may get one or two from Exalting. There is no way to guarantee this. It's all luck of the draw.
- The Scrying Workshop is going to be your best friend.
- Keep an eye on the front page for updates. They usually appear at random and with little warning.
And of course, if you have questions, you can always ask your flight's indivual forum boards, or ask the Help Thread.
Good luck, new players.
