Hello! Just a quick clarification: This thread was made by @Gaia well before we asked her to join the mod squad - this is not an official suggestion, this is a player suggestion. Thank you!
Little disclaimer: I made this suggestion before I became a moderator of FR, so I want to stress this suggestion in no way reflects the views of the FR admins or other moderators. This suggestion is based on my experience as a player and my personal opinion. c: That being said, go ahead and discuss some more, ^^
Greetings fellow draconians!

I´ve been playing with the following suggestion for quite some time now, and I figured, why not use the Wisdom of the Crowd (yeah we are currently studying social media and web2.0 in class xD) to produce a suggestion the players will find enjoyable and the admins find implementable!
As the title suggests, I would love it if there were ways, in-game activities, to earn more gathering turns. Especially if you are on the hunt for specific gathering-only items, having a max of 15 turns a day can be quite frustrating. So I thought it'd be cool if by doing certain activities or reaching certain points you could earn more points. By doing this, you don't only get another chance to find that elusive Manticore [s](I will get you someday, you!!! *shakes fist*)[/s], but it also can provide you with incentives to use certain features of the game you haven't used before or normally don't use all that often.
Overall goals of this suggestion are:
1. Trying to involve people into more different parts of the game, integrating and linking the different parts into one overall game, motivating them to try out certain parts they usually don't use all that often, and hopefully let them spend more time on the game
2. Rewarding people in a small way for spending time on the site and playing the different activities of the game.
3. Getting another chance at rare and gathering-exclusive items, and perhaps for people who are low on food, to just get that bit of extra to get them and their dragons through the day.
IMPORTANT to note is that if (a part of) this suggestion gets implemented, it is well-balanced, so that people who are time constrained or cannot access certain parts of the site aren't negatively affected. This doesn't mean that faireground or coliseum-related activities may not be included, but it means that there need to be other ways as well, so that everyone can have a fair shot at these turns... (Yes Im looking at your BrokenStar9! c: )
Permanent gathering turns
This part of the suggestion is about extra gathering turns that are added to your daily total permanently.

Expanding your lair: Every few lair expansions (perhaps 3 or more?) will earn you one additional gathering turn, as you are now able to house more dragons, and therefore need to feed more mouths. (based on this suggestion.)

Levelling up: When all your gathering activities hit lv10, you earn additional gathering turns (perhaps 1?), as your dragons have now become more efficient in all skills. When all your gathering activities hit lv20, you will earn additional gathering turns again (perhaps 1?) (Based on Rhea's suggestion, page 4)

On a related note, not directly related to extra gathering turns, perhaps as you level up, the amount of items (both in number of stacks as the amount of items per stack) can be increased. Perhaps from 4 (amount of stacks) and 5 (items per stack) to 5 and 6 when you hit level 10, and to 6 and 7 when you hit level 20.
Semi-permanent gathering turns
This part describes several ways to earn extra gathering turns semi-permanently.

Keep your dragons well-fed for a month; This would be an extension of the already existing well-fed bonus; keeping your dragons above the 80% consecutively for a month (or perhaps a longer period and/or a higher percentage) could provide you with 5 additional turns per day..

I'd like to see an addition to the existing gathering turn boost provided by the well fed bonus; For every week you don't fall below 80% you get an additional turn per week added to the boost. There would need to be a cap, of course, but that's just my two cents

Daily gathering turns
This part contains several ideas that might grant you 1 additional turn per activity that are earned at a daily basis. A cap is most definitely needed (perhaps 5) for the total amount of extra gathering turns you can earn per day. Because we don't want people to be swimming in items that are meant to be somewhat rare, and if people could earn gathering turns indefinitly, this would hugely affect people who are time- or resource restrained.

Bond with X-amount Familiars; this could be stackable, meaning say x = 30, and you bond with 60 familiars you get 2 turns, rather than just 1, or perhaps limited to only being able to be earned once a day. This would provide people who already awakened all their familiars with an incentive to still bond with them.

Earn X-amount of treasure in the Fairegrounds; same as the previous activity, this could either be stackable or capped at being able to earn it once a day. This would provide a lot of people who don't find the Fairegrounds rewarding enough with another incentive to still play a few games, at least until the x-amount is reached.

Defeat X-amount of enemies in the Coliseum; to provide mindless grinding with another purpose. Perhaps this activity shouldn't be capped at only 1 gathering turn a day, but there should definitly be a cap, perhaps 2 or 3... And perhaps a restriction should be added, that the enemies/battles won't count if the level difference is too big (same as with earning experience. Once your level is too high for the area you are battling in, you stop earning experience, and the battles stop counting toward X-amount)

Visit Crim X-amount times/trade with Crim X-amount times/Look at X-amount of Crim offers: a good suggestion by Vendrus ^^ This could inspire people to visit Crim and the other trading posts more often, and perhaps even hoard items they would usually auto-sell from their hoard in case Crim offers them a nice deal

Exalt x-amount of dragons: Perhaps this will encourage people to use the exalting system more often. The amount shouldn't be too high, perhaps 3?

Complete X-amount of quests; for explanation about quests, see below

Answer all Tomo's questions correctly for 1 extra gathering turn

Open X-amount of chests?

We need more suggestions to balance out the activities. Anyone any ideas? Perhaps with upcoming features like Baldwin's Bubbly Brew.. I also see a lot of opportunity for activities involving Fay'd exaltation overhaul.. Especially when it comes to making offerings to the deities or praying to them!
Another suggestion made by ClockworkMoose; turning in a certain amount of items in exchange for an extra gathering turn. I myself like it very much! But I do think that a real trade-off has to be made here, so it won't be an easy throwing useless items away in exchange for another gathering turn. You really need to ask yourself, will it be worth it to trade these items for another turn. How high are my chances of getting more valuable items in return, and how high are my chances of ending up with less?
A good addition to this suggestion came from Guiliastes; only being able to use items you've just gathered to turn into a new/additional gathering turn. This will probably involve some seperate storage for items you've just gathered. Where you can either chose to use some of those items for another turn, or let them be transported to your hoard, and forfeiting (oh that sounds so dramatic) your chance at getting another turn through this method for today. Guiliastes mentioned needing to transport the items to your hoard before being able to gather again the next day, but perhaps more convenient could be that any leftover items in your just-gathering-this hoard will get transported to your normal hoard during rollover.. (and we both admit we have no idea how easy/difficult it will be to implement something like this)
Some nice suggestions made by DragonSage for more ways to earn gathering turns:
--One way to promote activity (time spent) on the site is random events that pop up as you navigate, if they did something like that, an extra gather turn could be a common random event.
--Perhaps randomly you get an extra turn when exalting (similiar to how you get gems).
--They could add an item that when used gives an extra gather turn (a compass perhaps)
--When Baldwin is added perhaps he might occasionally say something like "While you are waiting for the cauldron to brew, why don't you go gather some more ingredients" And if he says something like that to you, you get an extra turn
--If you get a streak at Hi-Lo you get an extra gather
--Perhaps occasionally when you purchase or sell an item in the AH you'll get an extra gather turn when you go to collect the item/money from your message box as a gift from the courier dragons.
--If Fayd's Overhaul ever gets added, perhaps one of the boons or some of the items in the grace store would be extra gather turns (perhaps these wouldn't count to the extra turn cap, but have their own cap)
Complete quests; I'm a big fan of quests. And these quests don't necessarily need to involve the Adventure Mode that is still in the making (although a few adventure-related quests would be cool when the time comes). But simple quests like breeding a certain dragon. Getting a dragon to a certain level. Obtaining a certain amount of an item in the coliseum. Completing three jigsaw puzzles. Tiny little quests that can perhaps earn you some treasure or an item. But in addition might also earn you some gathering turns for your hard work. Most quests and other gathering-turn earning activities will overlap, so perhaps these two systems can be combined. Every week there can be 30 different quests or so, (that change week to week) and per day, you have the possibility to complete a max of five of them. Gathering turns could then be earned as a reward for each quest, or perhaps after completing all five, you'll get an extra turn. Perhaps depending on difficulty. This idea was inspired by the questing suggestion here: http://flightrising.com/main.php?board=sug&id=1055117&p=mb
I've tried to provide a good distribution between all the activities this site provides. Meaning people who can't enter the coliseum, or cannot play the fairegrounds for health issues still have chances of earning more gathering turns by other means. Or people who really really hate posting in forums, can still earn themselves a few turns by bonding with their familiars, which doesn't require any contact with other players. I also hope that most activities will require a fair amount of time, but not too much, so that people who have time constrains due to real life obligations, can enjoy the bounty of extra gathering turns as well!
I'd love to hear your opinions about this suggestion and perhaps some more activities that might be used to earn more gathering turns.

Very, very interested. I like all of these - but how about a minor variation?
If there is a total cap of free gathers - maybe 5 per day - then any of those activities could contribute!
It would allow people who don't have a lot of familiars or can't access the coli or don't have time for fairgrounds to compensate using other activities without ever losing out overall.
Either way, it's a nice way of rewarding people for being active on the site and would get me my Strikers before I'm old and grey
Activity suggestion:
X number of Crim trades (could just be ones clicked through, to stop people feeling obliged to go and buy items they don't have)

Misspersephone; yeah,, It just popped in my mind because I saw someone else suggesting getting treasure for posting in the forums (which would easily spiral out of control).. But I thought, you know you'd get an extra turn for 10 posts that are longer than say 20 words, might be a better option to avoid bumps and short spam messages to count, and perhaps inspire to discuss more.. But yeah, it's definitly not a must or anything.. Do you have any ideas of what other activities might earn you some turns? I was also thinking about perhaps breeding or feeding your dragons, but feeding is already incorporated in the well-fed bonus, and breeding might only contribute to the overpopulation,,, so yeah Im out of inspiration, and if you got any, it'd be much appreciated :P
But yeah I''ll probably be deleting the posting activity
