TOPIC | Tiered Clan Energy Rewards

I have an idea to make people even more inclined to visit and support the site.

Tiered clan energy bonuses.

As of right now, if you remain about 80% for 3 days you get:
+5 Gathering Turns
+1 Gem
+250 Treasure
+15% Battle Experience

Nothing changes there. Everyone can still get their same bonus they have now if they are maintaining an 80% bonus easily. Once a day people wouldn't see any change whatsoever.

Now, in addition to that....

What about adding, say, if you remain at 90% for 5 days you get:
+7 Gathering Turns
+1 Gem
+500 Treasue
+17% Battle Experience
A 90% is easily doable by someone who checks in once in the morning and once at night.

Then further, if you remain above 95% for 7 days you get:
+10 Gathering Turns
+1 Gem
+1000 Treasure
+20% Battle Experience
This is doable for those who check in when they wake up, once more before going to work, when they get home, and right before bed.. or who are laid off and do nothing but sit at their computers all day anyway.

If you, say, are receiving the highest tier, and take a day break, and it drops to 89%, then it's down to the lowest tier, and requires you to get it back up to 90% and keep it there 5 days to move yourself back up to the middle tier, or all the way back up and keep it there a whole week to get back to highest tier.

If you're at the highest tier, and it drops to 94%, then you would have to feed your dragons, and keep them fed a whole week to move back up to the highest tier again.

I wouldn't suggest above 95% as that is what a user with 3 dragons who suffers a defeat in the coliseum at 100% would have. They would need to feed immediately. It would be less of an issue for those with larger lairs, though their food costs would be higher on food ticks.

I support this idea, but only with the amount of days that would be needed in order to get the tiers. While I am not one of them personally I know that there are people that allow their dragons to go lower in energy until they need to be fed for the bonus, and alternatively there are people that get stressed out because of feeding their dragons.

I like that it's 80% for energy since that way people with bigger lairs/more dragons don't have to grind endlessly in order to just keep their daily bonus.

I do like the idea of rewarding people for keeping their energy up longer (though for my bit I would say that instead of just 5 days/7 days it would be more like a week for the second tier bonus, and maybe a few weeks for the second level bonus. That way the high bonus takes a bit more dedication to achieve.

So TL;DR I support the idea but only if it were just straight for amount of days that your clan's energy was kept above 80% energy instead of introducing tiers of % energy as well into it.

Yeah...longer time to get bonuses good, higher required...iffy. I'd say definitely not have anything as high as 95%. I feed my dragons roughly once a day when I get home from school. Dragons lose one point of energy (roughly 2% total) every eight hours. Going just 24 hours without feeding your dragons drops them to 94%.

Honestly, I kinda like the 80% threshold we currently have. That's 3 days without feeding and you still keep the bonus.

I'd say maybe the highest threshold should be 85% or so. That's 2 days without feeding. That's a very nice compromise between caring for your dragons and actually having IRL obligations -- for instance, recently I went nearly 48 hours without checking FR because I went to bed, got up, went to school, went on an after school field trip, didn't get back until 10/11 at night, immediately went to bed, then didn't check again until the afternoon.

Now, I know what you might be thinking: "But it's a special thing for those who are devoted!" That may be, but nothing should be too demanding on a site like this. Lots of people have jobs, school, and/or kids and I don't think anyone should have to fret about the bonus just due to a trip/long day/whatever.

Oh, this bonus is meant for those people who don't let their dragons go. Ever. @DragonGirl218, you say that they lose 6% in 24 hours? So that's 0.25% per hour. A person who visits every 8 hours would be able to maintain 96% with no problems. Now, per suggestion, imagine someone who visited at least every 8 hours, every day, for a week.

It's doable. Would everyone? No. Would quite a few? Yes. Would many? Not that many.

If you're here ever 8 hours for a whole week, there should be a bit more bonus than someone who visits only once every 12 hours or 24 hours or 36 hours. It's ad-sponsored, so it would be beneficial to offer higher tier rewards to those who can achieve rather insane levels of commitment.

Unfortunately, it's not doable for me due to school and timezones, so I support having a longer period of time but not changing the percentage. I guess you could say I'm in the same position as DragonGirl218. Sleep, get up, go to school, get home, whoops, next day on FR already. I would LOVE to be able to hop on more often, and as much as I wish I could, I can't.

So, support for longer time periods, but no support for anything below 90%.

I think if it wasn't for the last tier I would be 100% supportive of this.

Or doing this:
Miss a day when you are getting top tier you drop down to middle
You miss another day then you drop down to bottom tier.

They still have to keep above the % for the amount of days you have to move up to the next one, but I feel like this is a tad bit more forgiving for those who have to do real life things. (IE: School/Work/etc) And can not get on flight even if they want to.

@Glitterbutt

I don't really support this.

I understand that further incentives for keeping dragons fed are important, but I don't like this system you've laid out.

People have busy lives, and I don't think they should be punished for only checking once a day. Also, suffering a defeat in the coliseum isn't really a problem, because you can simply just refresh the page if the fight is going south.

Games that force people to check often are both distracting and unhealthy. Flight rising shouldn't be Farmville. Let people enjoy it at their own pace. There are already plenty of people with a large commitment to the site, it doesn't need to be forced onto busy people.

I am also one of those perfectly happy with the 80% bonus. 90% is a good midpoint between the three-day cutoff and the 96-100% constant goal you're interested in.

All dragons eat when they are fed, if they are even a bit hungry. Yes. But all dragons are not constantly fighting in the Coliseum. All dragons are not "starving" if the energy bar has a tiny slot of emptiness in it.

I perform well when I eat at least once a day, sure. (lol) So do my dragons. But I contend, if you shove food in my mouth if I so much as hint at wanting a snack, not only will I grow annoyed with you (no, Grandma, I don't need an apple!) but I will also turn lazy and potentially uncomfortable while I have to digest the meal you just fed me.

I'm going astray on my metaphors here, but really. The point is, you get a decent bonus for feeding at least once every three days. Let's get another, a little better, bonus for feeding every day or day and a half, sure.

But don't reward frenetic habits. :) It's a game.

@Sharkiest and the others who think it's a punishment system

See, I haven't said anything about changing The current tier, you wouldn't be punished at all for continuing at your present pace. You wouldn't be quite as well off as a more dedicated player, but you certainly wouldn't see any less than you do now.

@Glitterbutt It's really not feasible to get on once every eight hours unless you have an odd sleep schedule though. And, while being a person who accesses the site periodically for about 10 hours a day, I would also have to disagree with the high percentages.

I feel like this borders on being "competitive", since you get more goodies as a result, and I absolutely do not support anything trying to push "dedication". This isn't a hardcore gaming site, it seems more like a site intended to play for 10 minutes-1 hour a day with forums for chatting.

80% is comfortable and does not add the element of worry. 95% would make people worry and stress. Sure, it's a bonus, not a punishment when removed, but the removal of a good thing often makes people feel punished.

That said, I wouldn't mind extra bonuses for keeping fed for more than three days, just not more than 80%.

I'm one of the people whose dragons only ever go down to 96%, but I don't want the stress of the possibility of losing an extra bonus. It gives a feeling of "oh, I'm not as good as those other players, I guess", which is unnecessary because it's meant to be casual.
