TOPIC | Link Breed to Encyclopedia Entry
This is just a little tiny user-end interface suggestion.

I suggest that in the infobox on a dragon's page, their breed (beneath their coli level) be linked to the breed's page in the Encyclopedia.

I think it would be a handy way to further interlink the pages with the other resources available on the site. Right now, there is very little inter-site linkage on a dragon's individual page. As a link that would take you to a different area on the site, you're basically limited to the parents and offspring of a particular dragon.

Linking the a dragons breed info to the Encylopedia page on that breed is a good way to start pulling more of the site together (PuffTheDragon -> Breed -> Breed Origin -> World Map as an example linkage path, it's already connected except for PuffTheDragon -> Breed).

Note: Obviously, dragons without a breed page *eyes Wildclaws and Skydancers* would not link to anything until they had a page to link to.

Hm...I see no reason not to support, so sure! Perhaps breeds without Encyclopedia entries would link to the "main page" of the Encyclopedia, that way the appearance on the page is consistent and people can see "Oh, entry isn't there, okay" rather than just "Y U NO LINK TO ANYTHING?"

Speaking from experience writing web pages for clients (Just some HTML and PHP4 and MySql) it's often easier to leave a potential link unmade -as would be the Wildclaw or Skydancer cases here- than have it link to the "wrong" page.

There were people enough who ignored the starting help tips about how to convert food and then made topics about it in Help. A breed link that doesn't link to a breed page is just going to cause confusion and people asking that the link be "fixed" without them actually going to look to see if there's anywhere to link it too. (That would be my Mediawiki admin experience there.)

Whereas keeping text as text until there's content to link it to seems to help decrease overall user-end confusion. There isn't an entry, so there isn't a link.

Bump, because hey, still a good suggestion. And it's open for any other cross-linkage ideas.

Perhaps Lair sizes to more info about the region?

Since there is no suggestion for this I will have to post it on this page. Ahem, Flight Rising admins, LISTEN UP! I need to tell you something about the encyclopedia. In the Elemental Holidays, I noticed the water element's Holiday. it was in April and said something like "water Saturnalia". Now, from my view I was confused on what Saturnalia meant. I did look it up and apparently, Saturnalia was a version of Christmas invented by Romans and celebrated in December. I would like to make a suggestion to change the month for water from April, to December. This change does also make more sense in my eyes.

Heya! You can make your own thread in the suggestions. Just click the new topic button and suggest away c:

As for the December thing, Crystalline gala (Ice festival) was in December originally but was moved to January as the time that the festivals happen (last week of that month) many people are spending time with their family for things Christmas and other holidays. We have Night of Nocturne in December though, which is a 2 week festival celebrating mimics and Nocturnes. With the longer time frame it gives a lot of people a better chance of actually being able to participate in the event.

As for this thread. I don't see why not? It be a neat little thing to do so support!

I do share your pain over the festival names. Saturnalia is the only one that shares a real life connotation past the general "festival" theme. The Brightshine Jubilee would be the other semi-close one, but it's been distanced enough that you'd have to go looking for what a jubilee year is, and frankly it doesn't fit in with Light Flight's themes anyway.

Personally I think the admins were just getting a little frustrated trying to find other words to say "festival" and started grabbing things that sounded good. (As Jubilee and Saturnalia really do.)

But anyway, Snowfarm has it down right, December is a pretty chaotic time to try to host a flight festival. Since each Flight lights to take it's own holiday, you'd basically be forcing people to devote basically 2-weeks to a month or so of prep-time even before the holiday arrived.not to mention furious grinding when the holiday arrived. And all this in the middle of the real life stress of the Christmas season. You look new, so you won't have any idea of how much of a pain it is to grind for currency in the Coli (you've come in always knowing Baldwin). That's pretty much why no one wanted a Festival in December (originally it was supposed to be the Cyrstalline Gala, but then it was switched to January before the holiday arrived). Water's festival is fine in April and the name is just a name as far as FR goes.

As far as my original suggestion goes. Hey, Skydancers and Wildclaws have pages now! There's really no gaps in linking the breed encyclopia pages now.

@snowfarm and @Amut,

You are correct on the fact Christmas is a very busy time. I agree on that. Maybe, if the Flight Rising admins are not willing to change the month, they could at least change the name to something more April. I don't know many but a phrase goes "April showers bring May flowers" so maybe it could be something to do with showers of water or hurricanes.

Support! It doesn't have a big impact, but it is a little quality-of-life type thing if you're, perhaps, writing a bio for a dragon, and it shouldn't take much coding to implement.
