TOPIC | More Defense and Variety!

Okay, I know I'm probably a minority when I say I LOVE playing with a Tank-build dragon. Thing is, there's no level 17 Augment stone for Tanks! We have Beserker and Scholar but nothing for the higher level defenses.

So how about a level 17 defensive Augment?

It'd be really cool to get some more types of Elemental Augments in the mix?
Something to make Elemental choice in the Coli a more important. Or just more fun for variety's sake! Bonus if it hints at Elemental lore, like stones that are Mage-orientated for Arcane or Attack orientated for the hot-blooded Fire forge masters!

Perhaps, since we have the level 5 elemental pair, then the level 10 Hybrid fragments, the pattern could continue at Level 15, 20, and 25?

Maybe even an Elemental Accessory Stone could be thrown in the mix?

12/2015 Update
The Golem Workshop, Crystal Pools and Rainsong Jungle have been added since this thread was started. I think more defenses around level 20 could make things more fun for the Workshop and Pools.

Also, see Varric's Coliseum Rebalance thread for some other great variety ideas!

As someone who plays as paladins/bulky melee stuff YES I would totally love some defense stones. That just kind of sounds fun to me.

I'm not too sure about making elemental choice more important in the coli though but I'm by no means shutting the suggestion out. I'd personally be a little bummed if my level 25 team were severely handicapped because of their elements if such a mechanic was brought into play. Of course I guess there's nothing stopping me from raising a new team up.
I think another problem with this though would be that it would act as an aggressor for people who have been suggesting ways to change a dragons element (and this seems to be a touchy topic with lots of good points brought up on either side- yet another thing I neither support nor dissupport)
Definitely on the fence about that suggestion in particular but yeah I would be over the moon for defensive stones. *big thumbs up*

@chespin, Yay defense buddy! But why would your team be handicapped if more elemental stones were added in?

Would you be more inclined to see elemental stones if they carried the same stat additions across the board like the Level 5 pair?

This suggestion is to hopefully allot more freedom in types of play which in turn should attract more players to try out new teams in the Coli. Would more Element Specific stones similar to the Hybrids deter you from leveling different teams?

Pardon all the questions, I was thinking on the more play types -> more players spending time here -> more clicks for FR side of things, didn't think to ask for feedback concerning Elements of older teams.
Also, I believe changing a dragon's elemental change was outright de-bunked by one of devs close to when I signed up so I never considered that debate as a factor.

Support different augment stones and ways to bring some variety into Coli teams.

If writers are supposed to "show not tell," why are we called "storytellers" and not "storyshow-ers"?

I think this could work out in a great way! If there was a level 17 augment stones we could also implement, for example, an accessory (is that what the ambush slots are called? /shot) stone that increased a dragon's threat generation then they would absolutely be a killer tank.

Support for variety in stones for different builds in coli. But not for the idea of having different elements tend towards certain attack styles. The way it is now allows the most freedom for people already: they can have Arcane fighters or Arcane mages, or Fire mages as well as Fire fighters and so on.

Although that said, it would depend exactly on the stones themselves. But I think people would like to have the freedom of choosing whether their dragon fights or casts spells, without much discrimination either way in available options. It would be nice to have a fighter's equivalent to the current high-level elemental magic stones for example (Eliminate is currently the only one).
