Just as a first user experience on my 2nd day, not having 3 dragons to fight with in PVE means the 2nd tier (3-5) is disproportionately difficult. It presents an unrewarding challenge and buying dragons does not help as they all seem to be infants.
Consider a free maturity scroll for a new user (given and explained when an infant first enters the Lair)
Or, give the player a 3rd dragon upon passing the first tier
Or, encourage the player buy a dragon and automatically apply maturity to it

You can buy ready-to-go adults for roughly 15k-20k off the AH. Just play a few games or hoardsell what you got from the first tier of Coli and you should be good to go. You could even just go to one of the giveaway boards and mention you're looking for an adult dragon to even out your coli team. I'm sure people would oblige.

Maturity scrolls are gem items, making them expensive and rare, and unfair to older players if they were handed out freely to new players.
I don't understand what you mean by "2nd tier" or "PVE". I'm assuming you mean the PvP in the Colsseum?
If you really need a third dragon for battling, why not just purchase a dragon in the Auction House? There are many cheap adult dragons for purchase there.

Play the fairgrounds for an hour or less, make 10kt, and buy an adult dragon. Third dragon achieved, problem solved.

There are people cleaning out their adults and they tend to be cheap for newbies. Did you check for them?

I'm also a newbie but I've gotta say, no support. You can make treasure really easily just playing games (my go to is tidal trouble, I can slam through those levels fast and it's 200-500 gems per win) and then buy new adult dragons off the auction house. Plus, as was said, people are really generous with newbies. You just have to explore the site more! It's no good to expect the site to open all its doors to you at once with little to no effort input on the player's part.

New spark here, and no support. I checked out newbie raffle/giveaway threads and had more than five adults gifted to me my first day. Then I made 20k off of runestones and puzzles and bought a handsome fellow who was already level 4.

Alternately I could help you find one on the AH for less than 7kt, or sell you one for around 5kt. It wouldn't be a problem for me at all and it would help get you on your feet.
No support for the scroll of maturity though for the same reason they got rid of the boon of fertility for all new players - people were making multiple accounts to get a bunch of the free items and sell them. It's too bad people abuse things like that.

10 day wait? Well, I guess if you only use and breed your own dragons, but you can get hatchies on the AH that will grow up day 5 or 6.
Overall, I think you just need to build your team a little more before doing the PVP thing. They should be just fine for the first few Coli levels, though.
