TOPIC | Limit amount of Exalts
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
Some friends and I were fairly upset as recently, some of us would put out some lovely triple-gene (not a hint of Basic) hatchlings in auction, and someone would buy them and exalt them Unnamed.

I have an idea that could help out with this unfortunately continuing issue. How about a limit to the amount of Exalts a week? On Dragon Cave, for example, your account is punished for kill-spam if you should exceed the limit during a certain time.

Now I'm not saying we need to outright PUNISH people, but instead, why not have the option unselectable or something? Maybe, instead, have the rewards earned for Exalting an X amount at a time decrease?

Edit: How about a way to limit to Unnamed hatchlings Exalted?

What are your thoughts and ideas?

Not a good idea. If there were caps on how much people could exalt, dominance pushes would suffer and there would be more and more hatchlings clogging up the AH. If you don't want your dragons to be exalted unnamed, name them first. If you don't want tripple gened being exalted, sell them for more expensive.

No support. If anything, we need more exalting, not less.

I think it would be a better idea to ban unnamed dragons being exalted. That way Dominance pushes could still be in place, and dragons can actually have names, besides, how much does it really take to name a dragon before exalting? Sheer laziness in my opinion not to just click, randomize then press accept. Exalted unnamed doesn't even make sense to me anyways, I mean, you're serving a higher purpose and you don't even have a name AKA identity? I dunno, seems weird to me. I don't mind my dragons being exalted at all, it's having them exalted unnamed that makes me angry, so I started naming them before selling, but I find already named dragons don't really sell as fast as unnamed ones.

Basically in agreement with Sandstorm in dealing with unnamed exalts. No limits on exalting dragons as that would simply be terrible, but changing unnamed exalts (even for "RP purposes") would be reasonable.

Oh goodness, no, that would be a terrible idea! People use exalts as a way to earn money, and also dominance. I know some people who have to exalt up to a hundred hatchlings a week just to get their Flight Dominance. The point of Exalting is to get rid of excess hatchlings, and I don't think the admins would implement such a mechanic--especially given we had horrible issues with a stagnant, overflowing dragon market.

I understand the sentiment though. Some say it's best to just name them before you auction them off, but that can deter people from buying them. I'd say try to keep them above 10k, 20k if you want to eliminate the chance of exalting adults for bonuses, though even then they aren't safe from spite exalts.

OR we could all come to the realization that once you sell a dragon, it isn't yours anymore and the new owner can do whatever they like with it. Y'know. Whichever.

Also, naming your dragons that are for sale is also a VERY viable option. I have run two polls personally in FRD that showed the majority of buyers don't care if the dragon is named or not in the AH.

An option to name already exalted dragons would be a good suggestion in my opinion too, something like, you name them once and can't change their name again or something like that, and it wouldn't matter WHO exalted them, if they were a hatchling of your dragon, you can name them once or something. I like that much better than limiting exalting, exalting is part of the game and you're pretty much limiting something that's apart of the game itself, which I dislike.

It doesn't matter if a dragon you sell isn't yours anymore, it still makes no sense to serve a higher purpose and not have a name or identity in my opinion. And your poll is great and all, but in my PERSONAL experience, -MY- stuff, does not get sold well if it's named. Even my Exalt fodder I sell doesn't sell well if the dragon is named I noticed.

1) Name your dragons before you sell. Many people have done surveys to see if people prefer unnamed or named dragons. Most don't care.

2) If a dragon leaves your lair, it's not yours anymore.

3) You got money from that dragon - why are you upset?

4) They are working on a way to hide specific names in the offspring lists - so you can hide the ones who got exalted without a name.

5) A lot of people make a good chunk of their money from buying a cheap dragon, leveling it and exalting for profit. To put a cap on that would ruin a lot of people.

6) I'm tired of these threads.

Sell them for more than people would get exalting them (minimum 13kT imo) or name them. Exalting dragons is a major source of income for many players. Renaming scrolls are cheap.
