Hey there! I'd like to make a suggestion regarding pings.
Is it possible to disable duplicate pings if they're in the same post?
Here's an example scenario:
I run the Old Dragon Collectors Association and we have a good handful of pinglists. Some people have their names on more than one list depending on what sorts of dragons they collect. When people who use the pinglists copy and paste them into their sales thread, sometimes people end up getting double or even triple pinged depending on how many lists they've put themselves on. It causes duplicate notifications and it's proven to be quite annoying for some people. It's also time-consuming for the people using the pinglists to weed through each name individually to eliminate the duplicates, even if they're using Ctrl+F in a Word document.
Since there's no need for a person to be pinged more than once in a single post, could a ping be automatically disabled upon posting if the system recognizes it as a duplicate?

I still check every single ping for it too cos what if they are different threads OTL

You know what I do nowadays? "View All Alerts", then look at the timestamps. If it's the same time... it's a multi-ping. :| Makes me sad.

Alright but this isn't actually an issue, notifications disappear and you can even delete them from the page.
They don't make any noise and are unobtrusive.
This suggestion is silly, sorry, no support from me.

Some people get a lot of pings per day and it's quite a bit of trouble to weed through them as tracking down duplicates can be confusing if there are multiple instances of it- which there often are when someone uses multiple pinglists.
It's totally cool if you don't experience any personal trouble in this regard, but other people most definately do. There are suggestions waaay more "silly" than this one around here.
