Merana is a typical Pearlcatcher inside and outside. She is vain and always ready to gossip.
Her love of pearls and iridescent things is well known in the lair, as well as just how proud she is of her antlers. She is loyal to her clan and friends, yes, but she will always think herself first.

Still, for all her faults she's also a brilliant scientist. Lightning-born, Merana strives to combine electricity with magic. It took a long time and many spectacular explosions, but she has succeeded in creating a working mix of magic and science.

Merana’s speciality are golems: big and small, peaceful and fierce, she builds everything, powering them with a mix of Arcane magics and Lightning science. She loves to design and build her intricate creatures and tends to get lost in her workshop for days before someone drags her out. Merana also has a hand in creating prosthetics for her clanmates, helping the ones who have lost a limb or two. The delicate work of golem-making seems to lend itself well to wings and other body parts as well, as does her version of mage-tech.

Merana has a bit of a rivalry going on with Tetsuanir. This seems to stem mostly from the old disdain between their breeds but there is a personal addition as well: Merana sees Tetsuanir as a hypocrite for not using his innate powers and all magic he has on hand for other than tests, and Tetsuanir believes Merana is going too far with magic. Their relationship did get better since Merana first helped to build a new wing for his friend Lyshantenir, but they still have a good amount of bad blood between them.

Despite her habits, Merana has build a few strong bonds to her clanmates. Not to mention her mate Zeryll who drags her out of the workshop every now and then. The two seem to have a loving relationship and can be occasionally found cuddling somewhere open. With the Skydancer Eva, Merana bonds over shiny and beautiful things and intricate tech, and from the start she and Sirreth have changed data and knowledge about magic. It is not uncommon to see Sirreth’s rune-scribbling on the walls of Merana’s workshop, or the fae herself sitting on a hanging wire, listening her friend to explain how to build a working arm.

You will never find Merana at the front line of a battle: she prefers to stay back, build golems and prosthetics and maybe call a lightning bolt on someone annoying who got too close.
