Biography
old bio:
It is strange that a dragon born in The Crystalspine Reaches grew up to be entwined with swamps and wild-life? That his whole child-hood of starwatching and tales of magic no longer mattered once he entered the wild and explored the vast array of insects there?
As a young child, Mosquito was raised to be just like father. His mother was from a Flight that made very... different choices than the one his father was in. So, Mosquito squashed his heart's yearning to move somewhere else, inspired by his mothers bravery to explore something other than her mate´s.
His siblings didn’t seem to have a problem in the The Crystalspine Reaches In fact, they enjoyed it there. They loved the stars and watching for meteors So what made him so different? So… strange?
The one thing that Mosquito was interested in was bugs. He loved watching insects scurry around, see their wiggling legs skitter across the ground. He would often sneak into the Wind domain (which was easy to do, since they lived on the edge of the Crystalspine Reaches) just to find some new bugs.
His parents didn’t understand his obsession. They tried to, they really did. But they could never wrap their heads around why their son was so interested in the lowest of lowlife in the world.
But that didn’t stop them from giving him their blessings as he told them that he was leaving to pursue his interests. Sure, they had doubts. But, they said to each other, but let’s trust him. Maybe he’ll surprise us.
And boy, did he ever. He traveled Sornieth, searching every forest, swamp, and glade in search of some new critter. The work was brutal, with early risings and late sleeping, but Mosquito loved it.
One day, he was travelling in the Plague lands when he found a large mound of beetles. They swarmed over each other, surging, shiny black bodies that wiggled over something shaped like a log. Curious, he neared.
In his time apart from dragons, Mosquito had become quite quiet. He rarely used his voice, and, when he did, it came out whispy and broken, as if a breath of wind could snatch it away. However, when he brushed off the beetles to see what they were obsessing over, he couldn’t withhold a loud shout of surprise.
A beautiful wildclaw faced him, belly-up, paws tucked against her chest. A small smile crept up her face as she registered the shock on his face. “Not many dragons are brave enough to do that.”
And so began their relationship. Leech, the dragon was named, was a wild gal with a strangely passionate love for beetles. At any time of the day, she had a few clinging to her scales, skittering around and seeking for purchase. She and Mosquito immediately hit it off, talking about what types of bugs they had discovered over the years.
They joined a large clan that would allow them to settle down, The little ones are always entranced by the bugs hanging off of their scales and often ask to get a closer look. Many claim that they are the most-loved dragons in the clan, with their kind demeanors and eccentric… quirks. Just make sure not to get too close to either of them, or you might find that a few of the bugs clinging to their scales have made a home on yours…
