Because Sunstone is broadly known as one of the clan's first and most dedicated warriors, it comes as a surprise to many that he is also mute. The nature of Sunstone's history and condition is largely unclear due to this communication barrier. What is known is when the clan was formed, he was one of the first to join, communicating a desire to help. He ran headlong into a variety of tasks with great energy, if not always a lot of instruction and knowledge. Sage eventually settled the matter by taking him to fights as a partner. The two grew in their combat abilities together, and trust each other greatly now.

The only dragon that might have an inkling of Sunstone's history is his bond, Sienna. Whether he was drawn to her because her natural ability to sense emotion facilitates easier communication, or because she was extremely pretty, is unclear. The two work together surprisingly well, covering each other on the field of battle and cosily content at the hearth of home. Sunstone often puts his high energy to dance when he needs to communicate something. The activity brings merriment to many, especially Sage, who is often eager to introduce him to the clan's visitors.
