Telepath / Empath of the Clan
Origin story found here. Moonchild was originally found by Moonstream and has been part of the clan for a long time. She is very different from anyone else in the clan, as she is a total telepath and empath. This means that she can hear other dragons' thoughts, feel their emotions, and she can talk to other telepaths in her mind. This makes her a very focused, but also a very emotional dragon. She is not expected to do hard labor of any sort in the clan, since she is often exhausted from listening to and feeling other dragons' emotions all day. Moonstream is semi-telepathic and that is why the two get along so well. They often talk to each other in their minds. However, as a full telepath, Moonchild doesn't only hear dragons within her clan, but dragons all over Sornieth. She prefers to sleep during some parts of the day so that she can stand guard at night, listening to the lonely and confused voices throughout their planet. Although she mainly does this because it is her passion, and she wants to reach out to those who feel lonely or lost, her gifts also allow her to protect the clan. For example, if a stranger came upon their land with bad intentions, she would know and she could alert the others. Sometimes she also leaves the clan to find these other dragons she responds to mentally. However, most of the time you'll just spot her sitting in the corner of the territory, resting peacefully, listening. Just listening. Relationships: As an empath, Moonchild has always loved connecting to other dragons. However, she has never had a mate. She does not want one. Much like her telepathic sister, she is not big on conventional relationships. She much more desires and puts effort into her platonic and other relationships. Besides her telepathic sister, with whom she has been connected to since thirty minutes after hatching, there have really only been three others that she has been close to. First, there is Charizard, an Arcane Wildclaw. They were both hatchlings at the same time, back in the early days of the clan. He was a rambunctious but misunderstood fellow that was very appreciative of Moonchild's presence. She was the first dragon to see him as more than just a mischievous little thief, but as a good-hearted dragon with potential. He also liked that she didn't talk much, since he preferred quiet most of the time. As they grew up, the two have remained close. They know each other best and the longest. Next, she found Rio, a Plague Pearlcatcher. If you read his origin story you'll see exactly how they met and why they are close. Basically, she was the first to trust him and to believe in him. He was wary towards her at first but over time began to accept her, and eventually joined the clan. He is much more relaxed now and not as ashamed of who he is, but he and she are now best friends. Outsiders would probably consider them mates, but neither of them identify that way. They trust each other and understand each other. You could say they have a queerplatonic relationship. Moonchild also had a relationship of some sort with an Arcane Guardian named Alabaster. He was a very charming, charismatic gentleman that sought her affections. She was very clear and straightforward with him about who she was and how she experienced relationships. He was thankful for the clear communication but it did not change his affections for her. From then on he identified as her suitor. She found this cute and funny and didn't mind it or his company. At first, Rio and Charizard (who are also good friends) were wary of him, but eventually warmed up to him. He explained to both of them that he understood how she felt and that he respected that. But so long as he was in the clan, he was going to adore her and try to "win her over" even though he accepted that he never would. They found this funny and eventually warmed up to him. He was a very respectful and chivalrous dragon that worked hard. He helped Vixen and Shadowclaw fight in the Coliseum for a long time, before he finally moved on to a new adventure. He wished Moonchild the best, and smiled as he parted ways. When Nightglow, an Ice Coatl, joined the clan suddenly, she'd gotten to know him closely before many others did. Moonchild was certain that he had some sort of latent intuitive abilities, and once they became definite friends she spent a lot more time with him, both of them exploring this possibility. Abilities aside, she really liked his company and was grateful to how he'd added to her telepathic sister, Moonstream's, life. Make no mistake, Moonchild may seem distant when it comes to relationships but as an empath, she is quite the opposite. She is truly romantically attracted to Rio, and he knows that, but when they are interacting, she really just desires peace. Thus, they mostly talk through their eyes. Even though he's not telepathic, he knows she is listening to his thoughts, and so he responds with body language. With all the voices in her head, talking can tire her out. He understands her and is happy to respond in this way. Given on 10/25/13. Note: Although dragons always use she/her pronouns with Moonchild, she has mentioned on a couple occasions that any are acceptable. She realizes that most dragons perceive her as female and that doesn't bother her. How does she see herself though? Moonchild thinks gender is a funny thing and considers herself genderless. Quote:
