Her character arc on both Beforus and Alternia center around the theme of censorship and I've still yet to figure all that out. bloop bloop.

Her Alternian self keeps top secret illegal texts hidden in her respiteblock by keeping the place as horrifically cluttered as possible. After all, no one really wants to go searching through trash, creepy dead stuff, and other questionable possessions. She's a pretty organized and ambitious person who couldn't care less about people thinking she's a slob. It certainly beats being culled as a traitor to the empire.

Her Beforan self was a simple philosopher who loved pretty clothes, pondering the mysteries of the universe, and advocating for culling reform. Her rebellious spirit and writing caught the attention of the Contessa, the Beforan version of Flurre Deliss, who forced her to serve as her personal writer and had all her heretic writings confiscated and burned. She is given the title of the Canonist, kept out of public eye and is even a secret to the other servants as she writes poems praising the Contessa.

Most importantly, she is given the duty of editing out "problematic" trolls from history, finding traces of anything even remotely anti-culling or anti-hemospectrum in the literary/historical canon and ordering their removal. Unable to cope with the atrocities she is forced to commit and no longer caring for her own survival, she rebels against the Contessa, hiding secret criticisms of her in her poems in hopes that someone will decipher their hidden truths. Eventually, the empress catches on and executes her in private, spearing her on her trident and casting her into the trench her hungry horrorterror lusus calls home.

The Contessa was always fond of the Canonist despite her "betrayal", and she ends up personally raising her descendant when she hatches several sweeps later, spoiling her with the dresses and books the Canonist always adored in order to alleviate her guilt. She has the young troll convinced that she was hatched as an anomaly without an ancestor or a lusus in order to keep her ignorant of her ancestor's tale. However, her descendant lacked the defiant streak of her favorite scribe, instead living perfectly happily in the lap of luxury without concern for anyone or anything around her.
