2-28-15: A Shadowling who wished to explore the world, he entered himself as a prize in the Tickmurk Midway Circus, and was improbably won by Beeblebrox on an incredible spin of the wheel. Beeb had hopes that the young Pearlcatcher would like to become a part of their family, but the hatchling had other ideas, and chose to place his nest near two Skydancers instead. While disappointed, Duskcloud and Beeblebrox have accepted the young one's right to choose, and are pleased that he has found somewhere he feels happy...

Shortly after arriving in the Clan, while still building his nest, the hatchling was bowled over by an equally young Nightsky Fuiran who was running after a small ball. When the two little ones disentangled themselves, they found that they rather liked being together.....

5-29-15: No longer a hatchling, the Shadowling has grown into a proud--and powerful--Shadow mage. The influence of his parents means that his magic is a bit more varied than most of the Clan's Pearlcatchers....but he is still influenced by the Classical Elements, all four of which he is at least proficient in. His magic tends to be a bit more in the "gray" area than his fellow elemental mages, however. Perhaps this is why he and his constant companion, the Nightsky Fuiran, get on so well together...

...And speaking of the Fuiran, he has grown as well, from the small gangly baby to a strong individual full of energy and power... and Awakened to his full potential at last! Considering his devotion to his friend, his powerfully dark magic, and his prowess in battle, this has some of the Clan dragons worried.... while others see the potential for a defender of the Clan no Beast will ever expect....

6-17-15: The Pearlcatcher has added a new companion to his repertoire: A Black Dwarf Unicorn! Interestingly enough, the induction of this being to his "family" actually has many of the Clan settling down. Devoid of magic or not, unicorns are not beings of darkness, and may well be able to keep the Pearlctacher and his Nightsky Fuiran companion on the right track--right?

9-18-15: The Black Dwarf Unicorn has Awakened! And she is beginning to glow an odd purplish color….

9-26-15: During the Starfall Celebration this year, a number of the Clan's male Pearlcatchers got caught in a magical storm. The result was an interesting Crystalpine Aura Accent change in their appearance. It looks better on some than others....

11-1-15: Much to Duskshadow's concern, the young Pearlcatcher disappeared for a time during the Riot of Rot. Now where did he get to? And while the Clan is at it, why are things disappearing from the hoard? Hmmm...

The dark Pearlcatcher stretched his wings slowly, as he perused the area. It looked like returning to his birth Flight while everyone else was busy in the Scarred Wasteland had paid off handsomely.... now all he had to do was find some things to offer....Hmmm...

Narrowing his eyes, the young mage concentrated, envisioning a collection of objects sitting on the path. Despite the usual exhaustion--and the long-lasting headaches that always developed--he much preferred this method of Gathering to any other. For one thing, he couldn't be seen....

A swirl of shadowy purple developed nearby, growing denser as the seconds passed. Then, between one instant and the next, the shadows vanished, revealing a large pile of various items--some of which were moving. Smiling with satisfaction, and ignoring the indignant shrieking of disturbed bats, the Pearlcatcher glanced down the path, searching for who to unload the purloined loot--er, precious treasures--on....

...The Pearlcatcher shrugged. Since the host of the Raffle preferred intermediaries to handle things, he would accommodate them. It wasn't like the spell took any extra energy to go further....

Glancing at the pile beside him, he flicked his tail, sending it on a journey that would end at the feet of @unwashedwonder. Thoroughly pleased with himself, he turned to continue on his way. That should net him quite a few tickets.... now all he had to do was make sure that Duskshadow didn't think to inventory the hoard for a while--say 7 more days.... maybe he should talk to Spellweaver about conducting some new experiments? There was nothing like billowing smoke, odd lights, and the apparent threat of a cave collapsing to keep the Clan Mother distracted.....

2-21-16: Even as oddly colored familiars and ghostly auras begin to infiltrate the caves, some things will never change... and the monthly trips to the Festivals are proof enough of this. This year it was the youngest Shadow dragon who caught the attention of a special familiar. The Insubstantial Illusionist took one look at the young Pearlcatcher and simply bonded to him on the spot....

2-24-16: The young Pearlcatcher had more than one "windfall" this Festival. Not only did he attract the special Shadow familiar, he also received a bunch of things from the Trickmurk Parade!

The young Pearlcatcher watched the passing floats with wide eyes. He hadn't even been sure he would be allowed to come to the Parade, since he had not chosen his name, and was less than a year old, but the elders of the Clan had declared that there was no reason for any Shadow Dragon of the lair to be left behind...and here he was! Back in the lands of his birth watching the parade Twilight had told him so much about--and boy was it everything she had said it would be, and more!

He trembled with excitement, staring at the brightly colored Spirals as they wove among the other dancers in their silk finery. Were some of them using magic to make things even better? He wasn't sure--his own magical abilities were still somewhat erratic and he had not yet learned how to sense other energies--but regardless those Spirals were beautiful!

Settling back on his haunches, he watched one particular dancing pair that reminded him a bit of some of his fellow Clanmates. They were weaving around each other in a undulating pattern so complex it caused his eyes to water as he tried to follow it. He was so fascinated by the two Spirals he didn't see the object flying from one of the Floats passing by until almost too late.....

A pair of gaudy male ridgebacks pull this float. Their spines glimmer in the light spilling from the float, beautiful matching cyans. An iridescent wash of color spreads over their bright scales and the leather of their wings. Their harnesses are strung with lights back to the tent on wheels they're pulling. They look almost too brilliant for the darkness of the Tangled Wood - but they blend in perfectly with the Trickmurk Circus.

It's not much of a tent - open on all sides - but it has a roof the same colors and fabric of the actual Big Top. Under it, an imperial female dances parade favors across her knuckles, only to disappear them in plain sight, then switch to blowing shapes in fire. She blows rings and trees and ships before she suddenly flicks her tail up- and hooks the disappeared favor out from the middle of her flame! It doesn't even smoke, and she tosses it out to the crowd with a ready smile and a flourish of her wrist.

"Lucky!" someone calls as the necklace almost smacks the young pearlcatcher in the face. It seems he's gotten one of the favors the imperial mage has been disappearing and re-appearing.)]

He is now wearing the Pearly Necklace with pride--and studiously ignoring all the snickering from some of the other males. After all, it was given to him by one of the Shadowbinder's own dragons.....

5-24-16: The Insubstantial Illusionist has Awakened! The Pearlcatcher is delighted at his friend's new range of interests and magic, and has already begun to plan some new trickery with him. The rest of the Clan is a little worried as to what this may lead to--all except the young mischief-making daughter of Athena, who is becoming more intrigued with her cousin with every passing day....

11-1-16: To the delight of this Pearlctacher, his "parents" have finally decided to go ahead and have a few birth-hatchlings. It had been getting rather lonely, with all the young dragons of the Clan grown up and moving on, but now there is a cute Bogsneak who moved in, and 2 Eggs from this Pearlcatcher's own family. Even better, Riddle has backed off for a while, and seems to be giving Abracadabra some peace. Perhaps the presence of the Eggs has finally convinced him to leave the Pearlcatcher's mother alone? He can only hope.... and wait with bated breath to see what his siblings will be like....

11-6-16: The birth of his "siblings" was eagerly anticipated by this dragon, and he was certainly not disappointed. His young brother is still finding his feet, and seems awfully playful--as well as incredibly talented in magic--while his sister has proved to be a tremendous asset to the family from the beginning. That lovely wallop she gave Riddle was just perfect! The Pearlcatcher can't stop grinning with delight every time he remembers it--which he does every time he sees that wonderful bruise on the nasty Mirror's nose....

2-9-19: A new chapter has unexpectedly opened in this Pearlcatcher’s life, courtesy of a suggestion from the young Guardian Beltane. When looking for some help with some difficult Shadow Magic, the Pearlcatcher bumped into the Guardian in question, who suggested that he should try chatting about the magic in question with Beltane’s sister, Samhain. Intrigued by the idea, as he had never thought to ask a Guardian known to work with dimensional doors about shadow travel, the Pearlcatcher decided to get Sam’s perspective on things. The young female Guardain turned out to know a great deal about traveling by shadows, which are, in her eyes, just another dimension. More importantly, however, the Pearlcatcher found Samhain herself to be absolutely fascinating, and she has found him equally so…and now there are 3 Eggs on the Hatching Grounds! The Pearlcatcher is thrilled, and has already thanked the oddly smirking Beltane for his wonderful recommendation….

2-14-19: The eggs have hatched! The Pearlcatcher is thrilled to welcome his three sons into the world. They seem just as thrilled to be here, and even their mother seems pleased to see them. This is a good things, as the mutual attraction that drew the Pearlcatcher and Samhain together seems to have faded, for the moment. Perhaps, one day, they will try to give these three little ones siblings. In the meantime, however, they have agreed to part as friends, though they will both remain involved in their children's lives…
