Bonfire

The Fire Ambassador
Representative for Fire interests, needs, beliefs and individuals within the clan.

Fire: To Combust or Burn.
Bonfire sits on the Elemental Council as the chosen Ambassador for the Fire Flight within Clan Avarice. As well as being the foremost expert on Fire lore, beliefs, needs, and morals, Bonfire represents the interests of all Fire-oriented dragons within the clan. The Elemental Council are 5th tier dragons in the hierarchy, although as Ambassadors and experts in their specific elements they command more respect than the average fifth tier dragon. The Elemental Council is advised by an Elemental Leader, who themselves sit under the guidance and control of The Diplomat, Azrael.

A dragon of fire born and bred, few would have expected Bonfire to leave his searing, lava-choked homeland for the relative peace and safety of the Light territories. But leave he did, as many Guardian dragons do, in search of the charge that would give purpose to his life. Bonfire was lucky that his journey was a short one and his charge easily found - with his powerful fire magic, it was always going to relate to his natural love of red hot flames. A large clan, newly established at the Beacon, had raised a fledgling bonfire to heat their new lair and provide a source for the other fires they needed for cooking and light. They were not skilled at keeping it burning, though - their lair adjoined the ocean and a humid jungle, not easy conditions for fire making. Bonfire, though, knew how to keep his namesake alight.

Chaos does not easily admit dragons to her clan so it was fortunate she saw the value in Bonfire's skills and allowed him to stay, given it would have been hard to tear him away from his new task. She also made use of his knowledge though - born in the Emberglow Hearth, the Guardian had explored Fire's lands extensively during his search, and was already a talented Fire Mage upon arriving at her clan. He was a natural choice for the Fire Ambassador and, as long as his duties do not take him far from his beloved fire - a towering thing now, in the lair's main hall, which is never allowed to go out - he acquiesces to this role too. Unlike most of the other Elemental Council dragons Bonfire only rarely returns to Fire's territories, unwilling to leave his charge in the hands of others, but when he must he trusts only his mate - a Fire-aligned Ridgeback called Valyria - to tend the great fire. The two are close, though Bonfire is loyal to his charge first and foremost. Valyria is an independent dragon and does not resent this about her mate.

Much of Bonfire's days are spent feeding the fire, collecting wood and sorting it to be dried, cut and stored, checking the fuel stores and adding to them, and using his fire magic to ensure his bonfire remains healthy and fierce. The main bonfire itself is an important source of light and especially heat in the main hall which, without it, would be uncomfortably damp and chilled. Other dragons will light torches from this fire and use these to light smaller fires in their dens, if they are heat-loving sorts. Much of the cooking is done in the main hall too, some at the great fire itself and some over other fires born from it. Bonfire is perhaps one of the most content dragons in the whole clan - he performs his Council duties willingly enough, and spending his days consumed by the task of nurturing his fire is all the other purpose he needs.
