THE FROZEN KEEPER | 氷結の番人

AN UNTOLD TALE

El Nath hadn't always been a cyborg. In fact, he had once been full-dragon, just like any other member of the species, albeit it had been for a very brief period of time. He had been a mere hatchling when he had been attacked, practically shredded to pieces. Abandoned upon get his birth, it was a miracle that he had survived. He had been saved by the very clan he was faithfully serving to the present day. Needless to say, his fatal wounds had been so deep that they had been deemed incapable of healing, but his new family didn't give up. It was thanks to their faith in him and his new bionic body parts that he managed to persevere through the ordeal.

Becoming half-robot did have its perks. Superior power over virtually all of his clan was one of them. Possessing the strength to protect his family through the thick and thin was another. However, having to guard the clan's four most powerful weapons was not one of them.

It wasn't that he didn't like the four weapons. On the contrary, he found them rather endearing, although he did occasionally get frustrated at the certain lack of response from the full set of four robots. No, it wasn't the quartet of robot ridgebacks that he disliked. He simply disliked how boring the job was.

Despite being stuck guarding the robots all day, El Nath was quick to identify himself as an extrovert. He loved meeting new people, memorizing new faces. However, he had to admit that his usual guard duty was deathly boring. He was guarding robots, for goodness sake. They weren't exactly the most vocal of companions. Most of the time, El Nath found entertainment in talking to himself, and the weapons couldn't really judge him. To their utmost amusement, his clanmates would often walk in on El Nath only to find him speaking out charismatic dialogue under his breath, conjured from the depths of his own imagination.

"You shall not pass, villian! And— hey! What are you looking at?"

However, if there was one assumption that bothered El Nath about his cyborg-ness the most, it was the assumption that he was actually interested in the "mech-mania". For hours, mechanics would talk to him about his bionic body parts, and while El Nath would do his best to understand and respond enthusiastically, he really just didn't see the appeal. He was, however, eternally grateful to the mechanic who saved his life on that dark day, so long ago, and as long as mechanics could potentially use machinery to save more lives— well, he could bear through a few more conversations.
