Once upon a time, there was an inquisitive young Runecatcher. As inquisitive young Runecatchers are wont to do, he invoked his runes early, with the hopes that he would gain a great and flashy power. Endymion, however, neither felt nor saw any noticeable difference afterwards. No matter, he thought, I'll wait. Surely such magic takes time. So he waited. A day. A week. A month. But nothing changed. Being part of a clan that was decidedly uninvolved with Runecatcher culture and lore, Endymion grew increasingly frustrated at the lack of glitter and explosions, and most importantly, knowledge.

He recalled the hatchling tales of his mother's home in the Sunbeam Ruins, a land inscribed with the writing of ancients, filled with libraries and scholars. Inspired, Endymion set off to seek the answer to his unresponsive runes. It was during his travels that he encountered a curiously whimsical Guardian, and they become companions, and eventually mates. And as time went on,
they naturally settled, built a lair, welcomed a clutch, and other dragons they encountered. Life fell into a sweet, perfect rhythm for Endymion, and he forgot, at times, about his original purpose in studying runes, and that perhaps, his mate might not return his affections.

His suspicions came to a devastating conclusion when she was nowhere to be seen the morning their third clutch hatched. His heart soared when she returned with a veritable mountain of trinkets and materials for their growing clan, and new hatchlings. But Girija would continue to disappear, without reason or explanation, and Endymion was left to take care of the clan, and their hatchlings.

While Endymion found he quite enjoyed micromanaging and paperwork (he really was very good at it), the cracks in his heart only spread. He understood Girija's nature, and he did not begrudge her for it. Leaving her to actual management was a notion he shivered at, but the lack of her presence stung. He threw what remained of him into helping the clan flourish, putting aside his personal life.

It took the arrival of a most unusual group to break Endymion from his stupor. Another cryptic Runecatcher, with her head seemingly in the clouds, followed by a most excitable Twilight Herald, a species who tended to put as much distance as possible between themselves and Runecatchers, simply barged into his life, settling in, and stuck there.

Endymion could do nothing to dissuade them, and since clan policy ascribed acceptance, he could do nothing to move them once they had decided to stay, however concerned he was about the two being in the same cavern for an extended amount of time.

Asterodia turned out to have a gift for settling disputes and maintaining harmony in the clan, a gift Endymion, and the rest of the clan greatly appreciated. Though he initially followed her closely both to keep an eye on her, and to further his study of Runecatchers, he found his heart slowly healing in the presence of the gentle, accepting dragon. He learned to trust her, to let go in front of her, and he began to rely on her. His knowledge of runes and Runecatchers also grew with the addition of more Heralds to the clan, another gift that Asterodia's presence made possible.

Artemis had given him Asterodia, and Asterodia had given him love and life again.
