HISTORY

Monsoon was raised by tooth and claws. As a hatchling, he quickly learned how to fight. It wasn't long before he was left alone on the plateau. On his own and completely broke, he decided to profit off of the only thing he knew: fighting. He parsed through wanted posters in a nearby town and settled on a band of mirrors. After that, he set off across the rolling hills, brimming with hope.

He scoured the plateau for those mirrors only to turn up nothing. A storm struck and Monsoon quickly sought shelter under a tree, only to find two tiny fae dragons desperately clinging to the trunk for dear life. Their names were Ark and Abyss. Monsoon sheltered the two from the harsh winds until the storm died down. Finally, they revealed that they knew the whereabouts of the bandits Monsoon was hunting. They wouldn't tell him where they were unless he took the faes with him.

Reluctantly, Monsoon agreed and began to travel with them. As they journeyed through the wilderness together, getting to know each other, they began to develop a close bond. Finally, they discovered the mirrors' lair and attacked. Together, they were able to defeat the bandits.

Even though their journey was technically over, the newfound friends were reluctant to leave each other. They decided to start a guild together and called it Dry Winds.

Shorts

Short #1: Siblings

Ark and Abyss were like the obnoxious little siblings Monsoon never had.

It had been nearly a moon since the wildclaw set out across the vast steppes with his two tiny fae friends. Ark was a quiet fellow, with steely brown hide and dull green wings. When he didn't have his snout buried in some book, the fae was always staring with such a bored expression. Abyss, on the other hand, was a fiery blue-scaled fae who was always itching to explore. ‘Hard to maintain’ would be a better term, Monsoon thought to himself. They were a hassle, sure, but they were necessary traveling partners. After all, they knew where Monsoon’s destination lay unlike himself.

Yet, the thing that got on the wildclaw’s nerves the most was the fact that they rode on his back like he was some sort of beastclan stead. It was like they lived back there. He was a dragon...not a vehicle! But it wasn't like he had a say in this matter. Abyss was injured, for one. There was no way she would be able to keep up on wounded wings. Monsoon couldn’t blame her for that. Ark, however...that fae was an entirely different problem.

Ark could flutter alongside the wildclaw no problem, that is, until the wind picked up. Then, Monsoon would find himself in a frenzied chase across the plateau to rescue the tumbling fae being carried off by a slight breeze. Too small...! He was way too small!

Abyss wouldn’t even tell him when Ark disappeared, too. She would just watch amusedly then state, “I think that’s the farthest he’s gone yet! It’s a new record.”

Monsoon would whirl around just in time to see the tiny speck in the sky disappear. “ARK!” The yellow wildclaw would roar, unfurling his wings.

After this had happened more times than he could count, Monsoon swallowed his pride and suggested they buy one of those strap on hatchling carriers, to which Ark politely declined with that ever monotonous voice of his--but the golden wildclaw would swear to you the fae was embarrassed by the idea. Especially since the accidental takeoffs stopped altogether after that. Thus began the conspiracy that perhaps they weren't very accidental in the first place...
