Personality
Ironclaw is a laconic dragon, having been brought up in the traditional Mirror way of prioritizing action over other forms of communication. He has learned, however, from being in a tribe made up of multiple breeds to communicate his thoughts more plainly. Even so, he only speaks when necessary. This is not to say that he finds chatter - idle or otherwise - bothersome. He is always willing to lend an ear to those of his tribe.
He is exceedingly loyal to his tribe. For Ironclaw, a pack - or in this case, tribe - that does not care of its own is doomed to fail. If another member of the tribe is injured or falls ill, he will prevent the rest from moving on until they either recover, or die. If the latter, their body is given an appropriate sending before the tribe moves on. He is closest to Orlina, with whom he shares leadership of the tribe. For many years, he harbored an intense passion for her that he tried to keep hidden, as he felt it wasn’t reciprocated. He valued their friendship too much to risk it on unrequited love. This has recently changed with the arrival of Warcry, a Mirror female that has caught Ironclaw’s eye. He’s confused as to why Orlina has taken a dislike to her, as she has never seemed to care about others before. However, he has decided to ignore it for now and hope that his friend can see that Warcry makes him happy. Orlina and Warcry aside, he trusts Riven, his and Orlina’s adopted son, above all else. The fact that Riven is not his son by birth matters not at all to Ironclaw, and loves him regardless. He hopes that, when the time comes, Riven will be ready to take over the tribe in his stead. |

History
Ironclaw hatched in the Wandering Contagion. His pack - and parents - prided themselves as descending from the first Mirrors to be birthed into the land, never straying from their ancestral home. They embodied the belief that only the strong survive and saw pitting themselves against beast and dragon as a way of celebrating the cycle of life and death.
This pride and belief was instill in Ironclaw from an early age. For a time, he remained with his birth back and parents, but in the tradition of Mirrors, they did not remain together for long. As he and his hatchmates grew, the pack disbanded. They were picked up by other Mirror packs. Most of his adolescence was spent bouncing between different packs. Ironclaw picked up skills from each pack, leaving when he felt it was time or being left behind when he tarried. He saw nothing wrong with this lifestyle, having been the one to which he was born. Most of the packs remained in the Wandering Contagion, rarely venturing further into the Abiding Boneyard unless necessary. Curious about the neighboring region, he sought out a pack that frequently wandered into the Boneyard. This pack he fully expected to be as temporary as the others. As it happened, he was not wrong, but not for the reasons he thought. |
Ironclaw had expected to leave of his own accord, to join another pack when the time came. Instead, his pack attacked a far-too-large group of Serthis, freshly grown. It was during their generational assimilation, and the younger Serthis were far more vicious than expected, and in far greater numbers.
He was dealt a near-fatal blow, and because he was unable to move, let alone keep up with his pack, he was left behind to live or die as fate chose. Fate chose that he would meet Orlina, a Plague-born Fae from the Windswept Plateau. She remained at his side, nursing him back to health at great risk to her own. Her selfless - even defiant - act made a huge impact on him. Enough so, that when he was recovered, he opted not to return to his pack or seek out another, but remain with her. Orlina wanted to see the homeland she had been born to, and Ironclaw went with her to act as her guard and guide. One by one, they picked up other dragons. Many left, but some remained with them. As they often took to raiding other clans for necessities, they were called raiders. It was Orlina who coined the term Blight Reavers, and it has been their name ever since. |
