Tethys is a well-intentioned but easily-agitated dragon. Often restless unless she is active and working, she feels most comfortable when she is on guard-duty. There is not much she needs to say, so she doesn't say much. She enjoys the company of her teammates and while she is very comfortable and open with them, she is skittish around strangers and instantly on the defense. She wishes Sonata wouldn't let in so many new dragons so quickly, but Tethys has been reassured by Ashlesha several times that she need not worry herself too much. Still, Tethys prefers to be on guard and ready for defense than to be taken by surprise. She tries not to let her anxiety get to her, but is not always successful. One of the few dragons in the Clan who is able to always calm her is Nighttide, the hatchling caretaker. Tethys knows she can always trust the crystalline Tundra with anything.

When the Hypnos Scandal began in the Clan, Tethys didn't know which side was right. She wanted to defend Sonata and the loyal members of the Clan, but everything that Adagio claimed seemed to be true. What to do? It's hard to defend the truth when it's unclear - and the values of the Clan were lost entirely during the panic. It was during this time that she withdrew even further away from the Clan, and seemed to lose touch with everyone around her, even her coliseum teammates.

The Hypnos Scandal settled after many, many deaths - but there was no way to reclaim the Clan's peaceful past. From then on, things were often uneasy for Tethys. She tended to avoid large crowds and never got to know new Clanmates very well. Rumours began to spread about her commitment to the Clan, which she stubbornly ignored. But like all things, this too passed by. After many moons, there was a time of rest from the drama, and Tethys thought it was finally time to reunite with the Clan.

Until the disappearances began. Many older members of the Clan, dragons who had been around since the beginning, vanished without a trace. It began with Nighttide, but it didn't stop there. Members from all the Guilds were targeted, and the entire Clan was terrified they'd be next. There was no stopping the disappearances, even when dragons did their best to protect themselves.

It was the last straw for Tethys, and for many other dragons as well. Many of those who did not disappear chose to leave the Clan before they were caught, Tethys included. She wasn't sure if she could leave the Viridian Labyrinth entirely, since she was attached to Nature Flight, where she had lived for so long. But she knew for certain she could not stay with the Clarus Clan any longer. She left without saying goodbye, leaving only a quickly-scribbled note in her den, before deserting the Clan she had once called home.
