Some things are best not meddled with, and Lyon knows that better than anyone else.

Born in the harsh, dry deserts south of the Sunbeam Ruins, it became very clear that the weak dragon would never be fit to succeed in any way here, not as his parents did. His family was one of good standing, but under the Stormcatcher’s rule, such things meant little. But even ‘little’ was enough leeway for the young Mirror to at least receive something of an education in the only thing he could do: magic.

His affinity for magic was unusual for a Mirror, even more so for one born under the eternal thunderstorms. Yet his practically nonexistent constitution left him with no real choice; he wasn’t interested in the science behind his home flight’s functioning, nor did he care much for mechanical work.

Magic, though - that was something he could take the time to study, as long as he wanted. There were few resources available - the Shifting Expanse was not a place for dragons like him, so he’d have to make to with whatever he found.

Even if it was something that shouldn’t have existed in the first place.

No one knew what those books were doing here - perhaps they were brought to the place where they were least likely to opened. But poor, naïve Lyon soon came to regret doing exactly so. It was a stash of materials he’d heard of; ancient spellbooks, enchanted crystals and the like. He didn’t expect them to be this powerful.

And so it came to be that Lyon journeyed northwards, outcast for a reason he did not know - or simply couldn’t remember? What was it that happened? He would be the first to admit that his interests certainly laid towards the darker end of the spectrum, but he’d always had full control of it.

Did he really, though..?
