____Corignis can trace her heritage back through many flights. She herself was born in plague and since hatching she felt a strong connection to the element. As a hatchling the pearlcatcher preferred solitude to the company of other hatchlings. In her adolescent years she had an argument with her parents, that tore their relationship apart; so much so that she exiled herself from the clan, leaving everything she knew behind in search of something, anything.

Even though she was born in plague, the scarred wasteland was unforgiving and ruthless. Weeks after her departure she was famished and on the brink of death. Lying next to a pile of old bones she waited for the end that was sure to come. A voice, deep and powerful, soothing called out to her. At first Corignis brushed it off as her imagination toying with her; but the female voice, ancient in nature persisted. It showed her a way which Corignis had no choice but to gather the last of her strength and follow.

____The directions she was given led her to a lake, its water a glowing green in colour. The voice told her to walk in and take a swim. Corignis had nothing to lose and thus she rolled into the murky waters. In the first few moments it felt soothing on her scales, but this quickly turned into a searing pain. She went under. When she reemerged Corignis was a completely different dragon.

Bone formed on her face, arms and legs as well as her wings and tail. Her scales disappeared leaving tendons and muscles exposed, and her belly and insides were filled with the green glow of the lake. Thus the plague that took so many lives in the past, gave her one for the future; but at a great cost.
