 Purity hatched with a strange condition: his wings were tipped with a layer of crystal. An affliction of gembond is one thing, but an encasement of quartz is something unheard of. His general health was not affected, he grew up well and learned to fly despite the stiffness caused by the quartz. But this was only the beginning of Purity's misfortune.

As he grew, so did the crystal. Eventually it was obvious that Purity's skin, blood, and bones were being infected as well. Once he reached adulthood, both of the rose imperial's wings had been completely assimilated to heavy rose quartz, and it showed no signs of stopping. Ashamed of his great, rigid, vestigial columns of rock that were once his means of flight, Purity left his home in Wind to find a more grounded clan. He found this clan in Dragonhome.

Purity has come to terms with his inevitable doom. At some point, his infection will spread to his heart, encasing and transforming it into a quartzen knot incapable of performing any life-sustaining functions. Despite his predetermined future as a wealthy dragon's decadent lawn ornament, Purity will not give up on living. He has so many more years to experience and learn from. Because of his resilience, Purity decided to make work as a therapist. His advice is usually more functional than emotionally reassuring, but his patients are thankful for him anyway. He had not really decided whether or not to stay in Bruins's clan or chance it all alone until Castus arrived, then he knew he would have to settle down.

Now, Purity shares Castus' home filled with flowers, vines, and fauna leaking from the nearby Labyrinth. And although Castus has vowed to cure his affliction, Purity is more than happy to spend his last years with the one he loves.
