Title: The Loophole Duty: Mate: - Battlebond: - Origin: Born the 8th day of the 5th month, a lovely sum Hatched by the Maizehide Coalwing Arcane Nocturne. As a Nocturne egg of unpredictable element, his hatching granted him clan membership under Norpha's Law, which proved a loophole in the law against new Arcane members. Blood: High 2 by Norpha's Law Intent: to stay trapped inside the lair's Arcane-repelling perimeter wards, though he would much prefer to leave for a clan that honors the Arcane arts more than this one does to send his agents out to find Nocturnes born under the Dark Crescent from all corners of Sornieth (completed) to enlist the gathered Nocturnes into The Umbral Court in order to gain a stronger voice within the clan (completed, Mentha permits them to hold court in private to be sensitive to their cultural preference for privacy, on the condition they give her their full meeting notes) now that Nocturnes are treated better, at least on paper, to focus on the anti-Arcane discrimination this clan perpetrates in the name of safety, starting with (congratulating Lark for originating the brilliant idea of) inviting two Arcane Elders to be Grit Clan's first Fae members. Though no new Arcane members are permitted via Arcane Law, a loophole in Vetter Law lets the Fae stay as "Honored Guests" as long as they do not partake of clan food stores, nest in clan sleeping quarters, or participate in clan meetings. Though Grit Clan does not keep any insects in its food stores, it is fortunate that his guests are practiced in a form of Fae meditation that lets them consume magic from the environment instead of food (Though that's no excuse to skimp on the refreshments for their other guests, of course) to lament that Prince Raik has come down with a case of Multussis, and on the day he was asked to water Druid Luk's crops, of all days, what an unlucky coincidence. By an innocent mistake, it would seem that Prima's dear sweet charge was only intending to gift his ward's mate some pretty Multorum Moss to spruce up his dull aquifer, without realizing the moss is an allergen to the non-Arcane, triggering involuntary expulsions of elemental breath, and resulting in a garden in dire need of drainage to lament that, now that Tuk's over-watered crops have died out, the clan's plant food stores are under-stocked, warranting higher rates of foraging in the surrounding area to lament that, now that the clan has over-foraged and the local wildlife has migrated downstream, the clan's meat stores are under-stocked, warranting consideration of previously under-utilized food sources. For instance, the clan's sizeable Nocturne population would be able to free up the meat stores for the meat-dependent Wildclaws, if only the silly ban on insect consumption was waived to rejoice that, now that clan members are permitted to consume insects, Grit Clan may finally welcome its First Fae, a historic and positive occasion the Clanhelm now lacks the excuse to refuse. The lovely merchant's wife Wern already possesses a merchant's travel clearance, so unless the Safeguard would like to declare her a threat and revoke it, and risk upsetting her wife and losing a valuable trading partner in this trying time, she too now lacks the excuse to refuse. So the induction of First Fae proceeds, under an all but unanimous session of Vetter Law (sparser than usual, with the full Umbral Court in attendance but many of the usual voters out on extra gathering duties, and the Wildclaw off boarding with Clan Redemption) to rejoice that, when Lark heard tell of the Earth-born First Fae induction, he advocated on behalf of his Arcane mentor's membership. Well, as an esteemed Elder, who could say no to granting him such an honor? {to wonder if Mentha has any proof} |
