When he was a hatchling, he fell very ill. The local healer had come to see him and said that this particular sickness was foreign to all forms of medicine that she had come by in her decades and that she had no idea of how to cure him. But she told them of a witch, in the tangled wood, that might be able to help them.

So to the tangled wood went his parents. The witch lived in apart for the wood that connected with the scared waste land. Before they could anounce their presence, the top half of the door opened to reveal a darkness that set them on edge. After a moment they heard a voice speak.

“I know what brings you here. Your child has fallen ill. But you see, it is no normal illness. He has fallen to the darkness, it consumes him, devours his being. There is no cure, for there is no sickness. But there is a way, a way to fend off the leech.”
