"Why are some stars brighter than others? I guess I'll have to find out."

Since she had hatched from the little egg of hers, in the icy depths at Fortress of Ends, everyone had told her she was special and that she'd never have a worry in the world. They had said that the stars were aligned just right the night she was born, and maybe they were. But she wasn't so sure yet.

Born as a Water dragon to a clan of Ice wasn't so easy. She loved her clanmates, those who helped her while she was growing up. The mirror lady that brought her meat, just to watch her turn up her nose in disgust. They weren't so used to tundras in the lair, with all the nocturnes flying about, telling scary tales of the Night they were brought to Sornieth. All she wanted was another tundra to turn to, someone like her. Or even someone who's eyes would match hers. At least she had a fur so warm the icy wind couldn't reach her heart.

But the winds grew colder with no one to turn to. The mirror who had brought her meat had now learned to bring her different leaves and flowers to eat, but it was not enough. She was thankful to all of her lair, they had helped her in learning that she was indeed special, that somewhere out there was a place where she would feel like she belonged. And her clan mates let her go, with a feast and wishes of good luck.

But she felt like it was not luck she needed. It was just matter of finding the right dragons, the right place. Place of her own, where she would feel like home.
