Hush was born to a family of Pearlcatchers within the Elsewhere Clan. Her parents, the master Healer and Keep Guard were well established members and already had two of their children residing in the clan as well. Hush's parents and siblings loved her, even doted on her when she was small, but it was difficult for her to try and break free from their shadows. She felt as though it was expected of her to become a healer like her mother or an herbalist like her sister, though as she quickly discovered, those skills did not come as naturally to her. She thought then, perhaps she could be a guard like her father or even a scout like her big brother. But alas, she lacked the skill and grace required for even those. While not an apt healer, she did find solace in tending plants, even though hers never quite flourished as well as her mother's and sister's. Spices and herbs became her escape and she would frequently try to get her best friend, Aiyal, to taste her new hybrid plants. Of course, experimental herbs aren't always the safest route, but Aiyal was always eager to try. The two commiserated together, both unsure about their future in the Elsewhere Clan. When it was suggested that Aiyal accompany Shavuot to establish ties with a reemerging clan in the Windsinger's Province, Hush immediately submitted a formal request to go with them. This is not to say she disliked her family or even Dragonhome for that matter, but she knew in her heart that she would always be trying to compete for a role in the clan, especially since she had to work harder to yield the same results while doing tasks that came so much easier to others in her field.

Thus, Hush became established in the Wild Oats settlement as the resident herbalist and spice merchant. As a parting gift, Elsewhere's own merchant of fine oils and spices, Jalabhar bestowed her with seedlings to begin her own crop. Hush's sister even sent along samples of herb seeds from her personal garden so that Hush could continue her hybridization work. These days, Hush can often be found trying to graft new breeds of herbs and spice plants together for both flavor and healing purposes. Her remedies aren't always viable, but she is dedicated to her craft. Aiyal remains her best friend and, while she is not tending her own crops, can be found in Hush's hovel trying to innovate new ways to combine plant species. As with all early residents to the Wild Oats settlement, Hush was present during the great blight that crippled the town and nearly saw to its termination. It was during that time of hardship that Hush struggled to tend to her family. With what little harvest the farmers brought in, many suffered emaciation during the following winter. Hush's spices were least affected by the crop mite and she spent sleepless nights brewing up special teas for the townsfolk to replenish their lack of nutrients

In her spare time, Hush cultivates a pepper garden of great variety, in spite of its size. Her sweet peppers steeped in dill and cinnamon are her best sellers, though she also grows a spicier variety known as Cinder Chilies. The name seems a bit of an understatement, as the peppers are rumored to be able to knock the Flamecaller herself on her backside.
