They say that the skydancer maiden is a fallen angel, foretold in myth. They whisper that she was cast down from heaven; a celestial creature of light and beauty cruelly thrust into this mortal coil of flesh and blood. They read divinity in the grace of her form and wondered - was she sent to heal the world, or to cleanse it anew? But perhaps they were mistaken, and a myth is just a myth. Perhaps Periel is holy, perhaps she is not, perhaps it does not matter. For she has lived and she has loved and - by the gods! - if this is falling, then she never wanted to fly. |

Hatchling Biography She was born to the light, born to the scholars and truthseekers of the East. It was written in the annals of her birth clan that a hatchling that broke shell under a rare solar eclipse would possess unrivaled power. Such a dragonet would be a fallen star, imbued with all the powers of the lost sun. Periel was born on such a day, and the prophecy seemed confirmed when the skydancer dragonet emerged with an extra set of white, fully feathered wings. Even as a dragonet, it is said that all who looked upon her were struck dumb by her unearthly appearance. Adolescent Biography The pride and joy of a wealthy, traditional clan, the young lady Periel wanted for nothing. She was sewn the finest silks and given the best tutelage for all forms of light magic. All skydancers have the empathetic gift, but in her it was particularly pronounced. As a dragonet, Periel could hardly stand to be near a dragon in pain. From a young age her healing gift was evident, and through sweet song she learned ease warriors' agony and call them back from the brink of death. Slowly but surely, her reputation began to precede her. Pilgrims and penitent souls across Sornieth began to seek her out for healing. Whatever she wanted, she could have. Until one day, she desired something that she could not have. Or rather, someone. Harthexia was a golden knight, assigned to guard the clan's treasure from those who would seek to harm her or steal her away. Periel fell for her with the desperate longing of a lonely young dragoness who has never had the power to choose. But Harthexia was beyond her grasp, for it was decreed that Periel must remain untouched and pure. Outside her masters' teachings, Periel secretly honed her mind-reading. The final straw came when she finally broke through their mental defenses and learned that she was to be exalted upon reaching adulthood. In an act of devotion to the Lightweaver, they would follow the old ways and sacrifice Periel at Her altar. Horrified, Periel realized that everything - every magic lesson, every bough of flowers draped upon her wings - had been to prepare her for her perfect martyrdom. |

Adult Biography Damn the gods, damn them all. She would not die as her masters' pretty little thing. She would defy them, and follow a fate all her own. She bedded Harthexia and enjoyed every moment of it and after it was done she was no longer an unsullied maiden fit to join the gods. Her clan was hidebound, and called their union abomination. The two were cast out to wander Sornieth, clanless. For a time, Periel had never felt more free. The lovers flew west, fleeing the Sunbeam Ruins, and then continued out across the continent. Periel reveled in meeting new clans, wandering marketplaces, seeing all the things she had never gotten to experience in her cloistered youth. Harthexia faithfully guarded her every step of the way. But their happiness would not last. In a final act of malice, her clan had cast a wasting curse upon Harthexia. Slowly, her feathers and hide turned to golden glass, and little by little, Periel's loyal knight forgot herself. No spell or healing song within Periel's power was able to reverse the magic. The sick Harthexia and heartbroken Periel found refuge with the fledgling Clan Wanderlost, and Zaira and Kaius took them in with kindness. Having forsaken the light, Periel threw herself into the study of all that is arcane. She mourned the loss of her first love, as Harthexia became a glass shell of her former self. But time heals better than magic, and over the course of the years, Periel began to make peace with her past and herself. She would always love Harthexia, but she did not need her anymore. She had found her own strength. The politics of Wanderlost are merciless, but in time Periel found herself the Skylord of a house all her own. She tasted power, true power, and found that it suited her. Lady Periel became known as a peaceful and benevolent ruler, and House Truthsong established a reputation for beauty, artistry, and wantonness. And Periel began anew, in a land filled with starlight. |

Harthexia the Knight Periel will always love her dear, loyal protector, but it has not been the same. It took Periel a while to accept it and begin to move on. |

Lord Sarius Soulhaven They are fast friends. Indeed, Zaira and Kaius took Periel in because they considered her the ideal match for their son and heir, but it did not work out. Periel felt nothing for him, and much to Zaira's chagrin, Sarius himself was set on taking another for his mate. |
