Biography
╭
S T Y X Headsman ╰ ╭ There are dragons who trade in food or in armour, peddle gemstones and trimkets all across Sornieth, plying their trade over rivers and hills. Some work as wandering minstrels, singing or playing the harp for clans here and there, or make a living as caravan escorts or travelling sellclaws. Other stills make a living as a sedentary part of a clan or as settled merchants, trading and swapping all kinds of items. Styx, for his part, deals in death. Where another may find satisfaction in well-sown silks or in a deliciously crafted necklace, he takes pride in a single clean strike, a rolling head and a swift death. Not on the battlefield, mind you - Styx, though he is a more than skilled blade in his own right, serves as Skemmdeljott's headsman, taking the heads of those who cannot be redeemed with cold efficiency. Outside his grim task in clan life, he retains a flamboyant, charming personality and a clear love for the finer things in life, with his burrow being one of the most richly decorated in the entire lair. It always surprises other dragons how one with eyes green as newgrown grass set his home here, where one can walk days without entering any source of life; how one whose very birth predestined him to become a druid, a caretaker, came to take lives for a living, stealing souls with the edge of his blade. There is little ambiguity or doubt in his work; as many other imperials do, he enjoys his craft just as any other craftsman would, just as much as he likes perfecting it, whether in theory or in practice. To understand the contrast between the gregarious, almost nurturing nature he got from his birth flight, and the way - efficiently and emotionlessly - he handles executions, one has to go back to Styx's childhood. |
