11-9-15: Hi. My real name is Needlenose.

This was the greeting that this interesting bookworm dragon gave to the Clan when he first arrived from the Crossroads, where he had been looking for a new Clan--and Flight--more tolerant of his love of fantasy scrolls than his birth Flight of Plague. To the amusement of the rest of the Clan, however, as soon as he discovered he had the right to change his name, he began to consider the possibilities. A few minutes reflection told him that "Mithrandir" would not work, and "Rincewind" simply did not fit his personality. Currently he is thinking about "Albus," or perhaps "Ruth"....and while he ponders this dilemna, his new Longneck Hunter--a "welcome aboard" gift from the Clan Father, Moondust--is pondering him....

2-6-16: Choosing a new name has proved far more difficult than first anticipated, much to this Ridgeback's dismay. Belgarath, perhaps? Zandramas is, unfortunately, a name indicative of a darker, female dragon.... And Silverlock is not quite right..... Ah, well, at least some things are progressing: A name may be proving elusive, but the Longneck Hunter's development has come to a most satisfying conclusion, as the young Longneck has now Awakened fully. The Ridgeback is quite pleased for his friend....

2-7-16: After much deliberation, he has decided to name himself after the wondrous "white dragon" mentioned in a large collection of tomes he found hidden in the back of the Vault. He likes the idea of bearing a name indicative of special abilities--though he has not yet figured out how to travel in time, or transfer objects without touching them. Still, it is a good name, and is not the least bit feminine, no matter what Nimby says....

9-6-16: Ruth is growing, and his fascination with time travel, odd happenings, and paradoxes are growing with him. He has begun to expand his book and scrolls collection from the "Pern" pile to include other such interesting tomes as "A Wrinkle in Time," and a series about a planet existing in 2 different realities--at the same time. Perhaps it is no surprise, then, that his latest familiar would be somewhat of a paradox herself: a mith believed not to exist at all... but has suddenly begun to pop up all over the place. Ruth seems quite happy with the new addition, and the Longneck Hunter does not seem to mind the Clouded Mith much either....

1-19-17: Time marches on, despite Ruth's attempts to make it go backward, and his Clouded Mith is now much older. She has, in fact, Awakened! Ruth is pleased, and now he has something new to ponder. What should he name his faithful companion? Something to do with legends, and paradox... hmmm... he'll have to think on this some more...

1-20-17: No luck so far with the Clouded Mith's name, as she has not liked any of the choices offered so far, but the Longneck Hunter has suddenly decided to return home, and announced that he has chosen his name at last. Apparently, he "borrowed" one of Ruth's scrolls and read it, and liked the idea of riding a White Dragon.... and wants a name to match. To the shock of the whole Clan, Ruth was thrilled not just with the name, but also with the idea of having his own personal bonded Dragonrider, and now he and his familiar are experimenting with different riding saddles. Fortunately for Duskshadow’s concerns, he has not yet figured out how to go Between...

2-23-17: Ruth has just discovered the dangers of experimenting with odd magic when he isn't trained for it: While attempting to go Between during the Trickmurk Circus, he accidentally sent himself into another dimension....or at least, sent his wings there. Fortunately, the panicking Ridgeback was able to reverse the process, but not without consequences. Currently his wings are reflecting the night sky! Oh dear... hopefully one of the Pearlcatchers will figure out how to remove the effect.... if they stop laughing long enough to try....

12-3-17: A number of odd complications occurred during the Thundercrack Carnivale this year, and one of them was centered around Ruth...and around the Blight Nymph that stubbornly wishes to bond with him. Ruth is not exactly pleased by the Nymph's choice of companion, but he has found that he cannot ignore or deny the bond. After several days of resisting, Ruth has finally given in, much to the Clan's relief, and allowed the poor distressed nymph to start the bonding. Hopefully he will become more accepting of her with time...

3-6-18: The Blight Nymph has Awakened! It took a while, perhaps because of Ruth's original resistance, but almost despite himself, he has found the bond growing stronger, and now it, and the Nymph, are both fully mature. Perhaps now Ruth and the Nymph can truly become the friends the Nymph so desperately wants them to be....

3-23-18: Ruth appears to be finally accepting his bond with the nymph that chose him. Today he took a large step forward on that journey, and offered her a name. "Jaundica" signaled immediate acceptance of that name with a squeal of glee that echoed through all 4 caves. Or was it her realization that Ruth truly likes her that caused the Blight Nymph to shatter eardrums? Whichever the case, her happiness is infectious, and the whole Clan is feeling their spirits lifting, which, considering the recent problems in Sornieth, is a welcome change....

9-12-18: Ruth was devastated when he noticed all the mini-dragons now in the Clan. Not so much because they were present, as because "fire lizards" had been discovered n Sornieth, and Ruth had been so busy with other things that he had missed his chance to Impress one. Fortunately, Flamecaster had the answer, and lead him on a quick trip back to the Ancient Forge... ( )

…And so, after a heartfelt plea made to the Snappers who “own” the Forge, Ruth now has his own “Fire Lizard”! Hmmm…what on Sornieth should he name him? Perhaps…"Gift"? He was certainly a wonderful one...
