Helios

Vakhtang adjusted his crown and smiled proudly. "You have come a long way since your.. spirited.. arrival." Helios scowled a bit, recalling his early days with the clan where his unbridled anger at the Pearlcatchers nearly got him thrown out. "I am very proud of your restraint and dedication to the clan. Without you, we would not be nearly so well-provisioned and our Kites would not be so well-prepared." The imperial stood taller at the praise and bowed his head in gratitude. "And so," Vakhtang continued in a grand voice. "It is my honor to dub you Knight of the Falls. Honored champion of the Clan of Jasmine Falls." The other dragons in the main hall erupted into applause, punctuated by hoots and hollers from Rythika. Even the Pearlcatchers politely cheered, being grateful for his change of attitude.

Japheth then opened a large chest that had been placed on the dais, dwarfing the king's elaborate throne. With a heave he passed a large bundle to the king. The goofy tundra was the first dragon knighted by Vakhtang, but still squired for him in ceremonies. Helios tried not to look at him with scorn, because he was a kind and honorable dragon. He did resent sharing the title of knight with him though, because he felt his duties were far more important than Japheth's. Helios turned his attention to the king's claws, which were unwrapping something spiked and shiny. His eyes widened as he realized it was a set of greaves and bracers that he had been admiring in the armory. He looked around suspiciously to see who had known to suggest it to Vakhtang. Rythika only shrugged, but when he caught Japheth's eye he produced one of his signature silly grins. Helios sighed to himself and allowed the shadow of a smile to flicker over his maw.

Helios murmured words of heartfelt gratitude as Vakhtang fastened the bracers and Japheth bounded forward to secure his greaves. Another smattering of cheers went up as he looked out to the audience of his clanmates, showing off his new status symbols and gave them a rare half smile.
