Biography
Descant
The Removed
A natural shadow of the forest
Joined the Clarus Clan on June 24, 2015
Take a step back from the willow, from the Gladeveins, from the Labyrinth. Fly far above the world. What do you see? All life fades. The Talonok, the Serthis, the dragons - the largest of Imperials - hell, even the deities - they are no longer visible. Everything becomes a swatch of colour, green, brown, blue, no details noticeable. What does that tell you? When the big picture, the larger plan, doesn’t even include us? Each action taken, each choice made, in the long run, doesn’t affect the world. So, when Aurora hands out the daily assignments, you won’t be seeing this dragon present, ready to accept her tasks. This dragon takes a step back and fades into the shadows, spending her days on her own, because she believes there is no point in anything else. Why does she stay with the Clan, then? Simple, really. Sonata found this girl when she was still a hatchling: A small Ridgeback who had stumbled away from her home Clan and almost been killed by a Centaur patrol. The hatchling had accidentally trespassed, unaware of whose territory she was in, and the Centaurs showed no mercy. |
Sonata, fortunately, was nearby and heard the despairing cries of the Ridgeback. She knew a hatchling would have no chance against the BeastClans, and she guessed correctly that the Ridgeback had not meant to aggravate the Centaurs. Sonata made quick work of the attacking patrol with her magic, protecting the Ridgeback before bringing her into the Clarus lair to patch her up. Descant was awed by this generousity, even as a youngling, and she promised herself she would repay Sonata in turn. While Sonata appreciates this thought, she would appreciate it even more if Descant helped the Clan’s day-to-day tasks and followed Aurora’s orders. The Fae has had several stern words with Descant about this; finally, they came to an agreeable solution. Descant would be a look-out for the Clan, lurking in the shadows from which she was born and alert the Clan of any suspicious behaviour. Because of this, Descant is often paired with Zana or ‘Kana to wander the forest (moreso Zana, because the former is quiet and amiable, whereas the latter is a bit too cheery and talkative for Descant’s taste). |
