Macro

The clan found Macro’s egg during the Brightshine Jubilee. It had been abandoned in an empty nest and they took it with them, unwilling to abandon such a gift of life. A day later the egg hatched and a small, curious, bright little boy tumbled out of it. Though still young and still learning the ways of the world, Macro has a bright mind and the curiosity needed to ask questions. He is never satisfied with a “because”. Why is it so? Why does it work like this? He wants to know as much as he could about the workings of the world. His adolescent years were spent holed up in libraries, studying history, politics, law or caught his fancy. Education is very important to him. Macro always reminds youngsters not to slack off on their studies and is always there to answer any of their questions. Macro had never been especially magically talented in his youth and spent days on end practicing useful spells. He’s very proud of the skills he’s gained. Macro has a serene atmosphere around him thanks to the type and control he has over his magic. Dragons subconsciously calm down around him, which makes introductions, negotiations and breaking disputes much easier. Macro greets the clan’s visitors, shows them around and entertains them until the clan leader can meet them. Macro doesn’t get easily angry and calmly weathers any veiled insults thrown at him with poise. He doesn’t like conflict and is great at diffusing any potentially dangerous situations before they result in violence and name-calling. Though a very shy, modest dragon, Macro will passionately discuss his opinions on the subjects he’s interested in. Debates with other scholars quickly get heated, with dragons loudly discussing this or that, wildly gesticulating and referencing obscure books. When particularly nervous or irritated, Macro takes some time to have a spar, read a book or paint. He has a busy schedule and quickly builds up stress. Sparring keeps him in good shape, so he’s always ready to defend himself. Art’s one the hobbies he often indulges in. Paint’s pricy, but worth the end result. He paints the nature around him, especially sunsets, full of yellows, oranges, reds and violets. ______ After the death of the old leaders Macro was voted in as a co-consul. He was very reluctant to take on the post, feeling too young and inexperienced, but unwilling to disappoint his people. He is well liked and respected, known as a fair and just leader, one who doesn’t think himself above his clansmen. They come to him for advice, talk to him about their problems and respect his decisions. He hears them out, debates with them and respects them back, which earned him the title “Voice of the people”. His magic has grown much more attuned to the ruins in which they live as Macro spends hours watching the sunset resting against a pillar or wall, contemplating over his decisions and thinking about potential plans. These days he’s so attuned to the earth around him that he can feel the thoughts and mood of his clansmen, as if the holy ground of the Lightweaver has accepted him as its own. It is both a blessing and a curse. He can understand their words better, know what is wrong and bask in their happiness. But the anger they feel against others can be debilitating, sending him into bouts of depression. When the clan is tense he’s jittery and snappish, feeling as if he was on the brink of a battle. Some days are a constant battle against the onslaught of negativity, others days he feels as if his loved ones are all around him, guarding his back, embracing him in their loving embrace, fully accepting him for who he is.
