Iachoku was raised within the murky forests of Clan Umbra along with her twin, Maynard. Growing up, Iachoku idolized her mother more than her other siblings did, hoping to one day grow to be as formidable, intoxicating, and terrifying as Peyton. It later became distinctively clear that she didn't possess any magical abilities like her mother, or even her older sister, Alkali, and Iachoku grew irate and spiteful upon what she thought made her a failure. |
Though Iachoku loved her twin brother dearly, she couldn't help but resent Peyton and Alkali, becoming sick with envy whenever she so much as looked at them, and so Iachoku followed her father into the sea, where she forced herself to become as brutal as the Abyssal Gladiators he resided with.
Many dragons from the Nightcall family make up the ranks of the Abyssal Gladiators, but to this day Iachoku remains one of the most prominent Reapers, falling just short of her father, Urban. Acknowledging her strength as a gift or a talent is just a straight-out insult to the years of training that she threw herself into, and although Urban isn't one for favoritism, he never fails to acknowledge Iachoku's struggle. She is cruel and ruthless in battle, but is not eager to deliver a killing blow like the rest of her family- Iachoku is also merciful and understanding, and knows when to call it quits. This is a compassionate side that she similarly shares with Maynard.
Those that have fought alongside Iachoku say that she possesses ten faces, and that she steals those faces from every dragon she slays. Her true facial features are unknown, as she is always hiding behind her many countenances.

| None of Iachoku's children have ever inherited magic, and Arturo is no exception. She was thrown for a loop, however, when he proved that he could not endure the Reaper work. Even when she felt that, perhaps due to her methods, she could no longer train him, the other mentors failed in her stead. Despite the teasing about how much of a disappointment Arturo was, Iachoku couldn't bring herself to care, because even a failure was better than a spellcaster. |
