Melantha
Message Handler

Melantha came to Deoradhan-Kunibert as a hatchling, to cement an alliance between Nature and Arcane. At first, she wasn't sure what to make of her new home; only Keahi seemed interested in her. She sent a plethora of letters home to her father, treasuring each response she received in return.

And so, naturally, she became attuned to the delivery of mail from outside the clan. But sometimes she would have to wait weeks to hear from her father. Deoradhan-Kunibert didn't really have an effective system for obtaining and distributing the letters they received from allied clans.

So, during the long waiting periods between letters, she developed an efficient system to store and index her treasured correspondence.

But it wasn't enough; it pained her to see the state to which her clanmates' missives degraded, left out in the lair, unloved. She began to quietly filch them, taking them back to her personal quarters, filing them away.

While this went unnoticed for some time, it of course did not go unnoticed forever.

But no amount of chastising would sway Melantha's devotion to her Charge, for at some point, she had realized that her duty was the safekeeping of Deoradhan-Kunibert's correspondence.

With this revelation, things were readjusted within the clan. Haneul had recently joined Deoradhan-Kunibert, and she became Melantha's dedicated courier (not her Charge), facilitating faster delivery times. The Guardian moved her archive to a more prominent cave near the lair's entrance, and made it very clear to all that, if they wanted their messages, they would treat them delicately and return them to her for indexing after they were finished.

Though she has not received any messages from them directly, Melantha is nonetheless the one who tracks the movement of the clan's travelers: she's the best connected to the Sornieth grapevine.
