______ Thuriel panted heavily while coming to a screeching halt, she turned around in a swift motion, wiping up a cloud of dust. She stretched her strong legs and started to run again, focusing on a brownish dot in the distance. Her lungs burned but she had to succeed. Faster and faster she ran, until the dot came closer, she narrowed her four red eyes and leaped. It felt like time had stopped but it came back at full force when she landed her extended claws in the flesh of her prey. The deer yelped and slammed against the ground under the dragons weight. Thuriel sank her razor sharp teeth in the deer’s neck and robbed the animal of its last breath. She felt the warm blood flowing in her maw and she savored the taste, the flavor of success. She raised her head and stared at the sky for a second, then she opened her mouth and an eerie sound left her throat, a wolfish howl but still different. In a minute shadows came from every direction, jumping from the bushes and sneaking around trees. Thuriel was quickly surrounded by a pack of wolves, she lowered her head and grinned at a big black wolf, the one she had always known as her father.

______ The young mirror doesn’t remember much of her past, only flashes that sometimes come back to her at night. She knows that she’s different from her family and that she doesn’t truly belong here, but why should she leave? She loves her father and all the other wolves, they taught her everything and keep her save. What more could she wish for. Sometimes she dreams of creatures like her, with four eyes and wings. In her dream she’s out on a wide plain with them. They are running just like the wolves, she feels happy. But then a blast of fire knocks her down together with the others. A massive creature roars and attacks the creatures just like Thuriel would attack her prey. She tries to flee but can’t, so she watches how -what she believes is her real family- gets massacred. At that moment she feels a yank at the back of her neck and gets lifted of the ground. When she looks up in shock her eyes meet that of a black furry creature, a wolf. The wolf runs while holding the hatchling in his jaws, away from the plains and into the woods. Tears roll down the cheeks of the young dragon while she cries out for her family, but she never gets an answer. Then Thuriel would always wake up, confused about where she is. But the warmth of her wolf family sleeping next to her always comforts her and makes her remember what’s important.
