Biography

Nadeen
Travelling Dragon ________________________________________________________________

Uh-oh, looks like this lovely Pearlie wandered a little too far from her home lair (Bioslice, #83284), and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her to the home lair, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. This is not necessary, but she would be very grateful!

Despite her excitable and friendly demeanor, Nadeen is by no means a weak or helpless dragon. Having spent her entire life within the confines of a fierce plague clan, she is used to the highly organized and busy lifestyle of the Order of the Colossus. With her mother having left to serve another deity and her father being likely to follow this lead soon, the Pearlcatcher felt it was time for a change of scenery. One day, she plans to return to the Order, but not before exploring the vast lands of Sornieth. Thanks to many positive stories told to her by messengers and merchants, she is quite confident that foreign clans will be more welcoming to strangers than her own. Still, Nadeen can't help but feel nervous leaving the Wyrmwound with only two little items to her name...

Travel Log

Nadeen ended up in the Clan of Failte, and made quick friends with the dragons there. She feasted well and even earned herself quite a bit of tummy.

After several months of journey, Nadeen arrived back in the Scarred Wasteland. She had missed the scent of rotting and disease. This place felt comfortable to her. However, she couldn't go back to her clan just yet. No, her journey wasn't enough. So, off she went traveling across bravely through the Plaguelands.

The pearlcatcher trudged upon the territory of the Ethereal Entities clan. A guard almost bit her head off there, but he was stopped just in time. The clan was wary of her first, but they soon got to know her. She spent several weeks there learning all she can from them. After the end of her stay, Nadeen was quite happy she made friends with a neighboring clan.

Nadeen eventually found herself in the Viridian Labyrinth. It had an atmosphere unfamiliar to her: so much green, so many new smells and sounds, so much... life. She had traveled some rather harsh and barren landscapes up until now, and never before did the very environment, thick with undergrowth and vines, seem to be at once welcoming and imposing. Shadows of birds raced in the canopies overhead, soft fronds teased her snout as she made her way, the breeze beckoned through the moss-covered trunks; if she listened carefully, Nadeen could almost swear she heard a tune carried on the wind.

However, there wasn't much time to take in all the vibrant new wonders before her, for there was one sensation that felt very familiar to her:

The feeling of being followed.

Though Pearlcatchers had a reputation for cowardice, her time spent in the harsh culture of the Plaguelands had taught her to fend for herself. She continued through the dense undergrowth with great caution, being careful not to expose any weaknesses. Ears alert and pricked up, spine tensed; she was ready for action. She could neither see, hear, nor smell her pursuers, but she was going to let them know that she was aware.

Nadeen must have continued that way for over an hour before the feeling subsided. They must have decided to go bother someone else, she thought as she breathed a sigh of relief... though perhaps she let down her guard a little too soon.

Suddenly, something leaped at her from above! Before she knew it, her snout was jammed into the ground. Two purple Mirrors appeared from the bushes to either side of her, circling her warily. One of them wore several bird skulls draped on beaded strings around her body, as if she were displaying her kills. The feathers adorning her skull-helmet almost seemed to flare outwards with the wearer's emotions. The other Mirror, despite wearing thick armour, slinked quietly as he circled the frightened Pearlcatcher. Nadeen couldn't see the third creature on her back, who held her neck down and prevented her from moving.

"Wait! Don't!" cried Nadeen.

"Who are you? What is your business here?" demanded the voice on top of her.

"My name is Nadeen! I-I- I'm just a traveler! I don't mean any harm. If I was trespassing somewhere restricted- "

"We don't get many tourists..." hissed one of the Mirrors. Her eyes glowed from the darkness of her helmet.

"Our scout reported that you were ready for a fight," the one on top of her continued, "Why?"

"I don't know, why the heck was I being stalked? I felt like I was prey for crying out loud!"

The other Mirror sighed (or at least, it seemed like a sigh - he could have hissed). He motioned towards whoever was on top of Nadeen and she felt the pressure lift off. She turned towards her former ambusher.

"Well... you seem to be honest. Sorry about the surprise attack. Tern's a good scout and doesn't mean any harm, she's just... well, she's not exactly trained in the art of subtlety. I guess she kinda spooked you," said the Nocturne. No wonder Nadeen didn't see anyone coming - the Nocturne's wings had the dappled green of the forest canopy, and her hide was crackled and brown like tree bark.

The Nocturne continued, "Estus is right though; we don't get many tourists, least of all Plaguelanders. If you are a traveller, come with us to our keep and we'll get you some food and a place to rest your feet."

"And if you're not..." Estus plucked a skull from her collection, cradled it in her talons... then CRUNCHED it in her jaws.

And with a harsh cackle, Estus turned to lead the group on.

"AHAHAHA! Aww Pearlie, you should see the look on your face right now!"
