Cek was the first-hatched in the third generation of Nazdaq's legacy. He would have carried on the legacy, except for his conniving younger brother, Sreaux. Duped out of his rightful place as heir, he stewed unhappily for a few years.

Over time, the anger and grief resolved into a distant regret. He cares about his mate, his family, and his work; has no time for royalty; and even holds his own pride much more loosely. He does enjoy a bit of adventure, and his job as a contract-writer has always brought him interesting dragons and beasts to meet. He learned he can be happy, even without a crown. Though it took some time, Cek came to forgive his brother.
Cek breeds exclusively with Medic, usually in Wind Territory. Together, they have a daughter that has stayed with the Chase. Cek and Medic raise their own children, and thus their hatchlings enter the wider world with a sense of history and responsibility. Huh7MnI.gif

Age: 21 years old
Steady contract writer for the Tempest Chase, except when he’s not so steady.
17673939p.png Medic
Age: 18 years old
Physician of the Tempest Chase and Cek’s mate; just as astute to matters of the heart.
32442301p.png Magina
Age: about 4 months old
Cek’s kidnapped cousin, in grave danger and half a world away.
15279846p.png Lunai
Age: 21 years old
Cek’s faraway aunt, eloquent of pen, and desperate for the rescue of her daughter
7482931p.png Lightning
Age: 29 years old
Cek’s boss and founder of the Tempest Chase. Not nearly as concerned with cold, hard cash as some dragons think she ought to be.

I'm too lazy to write an actual story so here, have a nice little bullet-pointed list of the most important parts of this story.
  • In the middle of the night, Medic is unable to sleep because Cek won’t stop rustling the leaves of the nest. Finally, with a huff of annoyance, she gives his nose a bop, like, “What gives?”
  • Cek tells Medic that he’s gotten a letter from his aunt, Lunai, today asking him if he knows of anyone who can help her: his cousin Magina’s been kidnapped and Lunai’s clan is too small to help her, and not at all martial.
  • Medic is shocked he’s kept this to himself all day and demands he talk to Lightning about it. We work for a mercenary monster-hunting company, for Gloom’s sake!
  • Cek: Yes, we work for a mercenary monster-hunting company. And we don’t have very much money right now. Not that, you know, I would ever think that spending our money on pain relief for your condition is a waste of money; it just means we don’t have a lot of it right now.
  • Medic nods thoughtfully, stroking Cek’s nose while she thinks. The point is that we have a little conversation and agree the answer is obvious. We will work for the Tempest Chase for less money while we pay them to help us now. Can we sleep now?
  • We can. We feel a lot better about this.
  • The next morning, we go talk to Lightning about the problem. As usual, Hydra’s all perched comfortably on her horn minding her own business and pretending she’s not at least half-in-charge of the whole outfit.
  • The second we relate the bit about the kidnapping, Lightning’s like, “SHOW ME THE FIENDS.”
  • And Cek responds with something along the lines that, “We should talk about the contract first, shouldn’t we? Now, Medic and I were thinking…”
  • ”Contract?” Lightning bellows. “You work for us, we already have a contract. Hydra, get the hunters packed up. We’re storming a volcano.” Hydra gives a Fae salute and flaps off to give Soren the great news we’re doing a job for free!
  • Cek and Lightning have some back-and-forth, but we come to the conclusion that Cek is going to have to figure out how to pay them back because Lightning is like, “FREE? This ain’t free, boy, IT’S FAMILY.”
  • About a week later, we’re ready to storm a fortress of scientists exiled from Lightning territory by their clan because of their terrible dragon and Beast experiments. We handle them relatively easily because we’re pretty motivated. We find Cek’s tiny cousin inside - she’s a Ridgeback instead of the Fae we were expecting. She’s also real sick.
  • We visit Lunai (her clan was in Fire at the time), and learn more about what’s wrong with Magina. Medic can see that Cek is really upset about how long it took them to get to her, and she volunteers herself to take care of Magina until she’s back to normal. Besides, she’s a Ridgeback right now, so maybe she’ll be a little more happy being raised by her Guardian cousin, who’s more to her size.
  • We talk to a newly-conscious Magina about it, and she agrees. She wants to stay a Ridgeback, though. She doesn’t like being small and helpless.
  • We get it. Just… just don’t tell Hydra that.
