Hailing from a lair in the Viridian Labyrinth, Cinder grew up in a clan made up of mainly wildclaws. His clan was interested in discovery, architecture, ancestry, what came before, and how it affects dragons today. While it is unusual for a coatl to be interested in these kinds of things, his parents and clan both encouraged him to follow his interests, and he was accepted on digs without a second thought. He has both participated in excavations and led some minor ones.

During one of his more recent digs, his team unearthed an old, well-preserved stone tablet, detailing an ancient lair underneath the Scarred Wasteland. Eager to find this long-lost civilization, Cinder set out from the Viridian Labyrinth with his excavation team of five other dragons. His lieutenant, Cleo, accompanied him on this journey. This was his first major expedition, so he was very keen on doing the work right. Cinder joined the Thistle Clan at the Rotrock Rim, where he and his team were looking for caves to the underground caverns; acid rain continually opens up new caves, and Cinder was hoping they would lead to the ancient lair they were seeking. When it became apparent that their current dig site would not lead them any farther, Cinder and his team decided to continue on to the Wyrmwound. The Thistle Clan were passing through at the same time and the two groups decided to travel together to ensure they both arrived safely.

Cinder is one of the oldest dragons in the clan and is mild-mannered and idealistic. He is fascinated by how dragons have lived over centuries. Cinder is not sentimental over completing digs, and has no desire to keep any of the artifacts he finds. Instead, he prefers to educate others about these artifacts and then display them for the future generations to learn from. He works for the sake of gaining knowledge, something that greatly excites him, but he tends to get too wrapped up in his work and forgets to eat on occasion. Dragons do not interest him much; discovery is his true love.

If a dragon makes the mistake of asking Cinder a historical question, even by accident, he will eagerly talk their ears off. He becomes so wrapped up in the conversation and the excitement of recent discoveries that he does not always notice when his audience has stopped listening. Cleo has put up with so much of this, and has mastered the art of appearing intrigued, even after extended periods of conversation.

Trivia

Cinder has a passion for architecture and is slowly restoring the Grottoes to their former glory.
Really great finds during his archaeological digs really excite Cinder, and Cleo uses this against him to worm her way into his inner fold and take priceless artifacts.
Cinder likes to spend time with Dahlia, and always has new questions for her regarding her Earth heritage and the history of her Earth clan.
