Biography
You were wandering around the Eryn'Dar Refuge when you almost bumped into a tundra. She seemed wary, but tried to opened conversation. "Greetings, traveler. Don't mind me... Just nervous when I'm around new faces. I'm Azirite, otherwise known as Tsarina of the Eryn'Dar. You don't smell like an enemy nor are you a plague, which makes me feel better.
Our clan is a refuge for those who needs a place to stay, hide, or be protected from the cruel world beyond our forest. As an orphaned hatchling, I had many experiences first hand about the chaos we keep out of our clan. I founded the refuge with Azuran and eventually took the role of healer. Even though my medicines weren't always the best, it was a start.
As one of the leaders, I have to take into account all of the dragons and the health of the clan. I'm also distributing jobs and make some of the harder decisions of the clan. I do have some obsession with collecting things from the coliseum. I'm serious about protecting my clan, yet nurture them in a positive manner so they can make their own decisions.
I need to take inventory check on some of our herbs shortly. If you want, we can continue our chat some other time."

Azirite is one of the two original founders of the lair, and is the female leader, or Tsarina of the Eryn'Dar; Azirite has taken it upon herself to monitor the 'physical' status of the clan; as in the health of the dragons, the condition of the lair as well as other things. She is capable of making the harder decisions regarding food, materials and job distributions; responding to need rather than want. As well as operating as leader, Azirite is also an excellent forager, able to smell the edible plants from miles around, especially Stellaria Media, which has become her favourite food, though the rest of the clan never see it normally. Her tracking skills have been developed to help keep track of the dragons under her protection, especially as some are known to get lost, or wander off randomly. Though she spent the majority of her time in the coliseum as a physical fighter, the tundra has decided to become the clans first healer, supporting her comrades as they fight. She also has some knowledge of herbal remedies, though the others are not keen on them, and the results aren't always positive. Originally mated to Azuran when the clan was first founded, she has since fallen for the guardian Gauran, who has become its Tzar in Azuran's stead; whose own personality compliments her own and in doing so strengthens the refuge as a whole. She's very wary, and slow to trust those she doesn't know, especially around plague dragons, however once she deigns something as a friend, she will nurture and protect them, giving them the safety and the confidence to grow into themselves. A bit too serious, she doesn't always see the humour in things, and more often than not Gauran has to explain things to her. Acquisitive by nature, she loves to challenge the Coliseum, after all there are so many items to collect such as smoky quartz and tiny feathers. She is currently interested in the golden silk set, though she only wears the veil on special occasions. The choker that she wears is by her favourite piece of apparel, which was given to her as a gift from a neighbouring clan. History Azirite has no knowledge of who her parents are as she hatched alone and hungry at the very edge of the gladekeeper's domain. Hunger drove her from the small burrow in which she'd been born, though she made sure to remain as close as she could to the hidey hole. One day, she encountered a small creature, a swift lumen who became her companion, helping to ease her loneliness. As she grew she ventured further afield, exploring the Everbloom Garden, everything seemed peaceful, at least at first.; until she was attacked by a dark colored dragon, its features hidden in the shadows of the plants, its red eyes gleaming murderously at her, as she and Illusiva ran, trying to escape the death that chased them. Eventually the dark dragon stopped chasing them, but by this point she was much deeper in the Garden's; with no desire to return to where she'd lived before, she began digging a new home for herself. Azuran found her shortly after as his own familiar chased Illusiva, it took him several days to earn Azirites trust, as the female was wary, having very little contact with other dragons; though Azuran's nurturing and cheerful nature soon eased the tundra's worry. Shortly after they managed to complete the initial lair, and called it the Eryn'dar Refuge. |
Mate: Gauran
He knelt on the bank of the creek, one claw poised above the swiftly running water as he waited for an unsuspecting fish to swim past. A trout, its scales glittering in the sun, drifted lazily by, carried by the current more than anything. Gauran's paw flashed, and the trout flopped helplessly on the bank. A small pile indicated he had been there for some time.
His charge-sense tickled in the back of his mind, and he glanced up to see Azirite watching him from a nearby rock. Her white fur was meticulously groomed and the dappled sunlight caught the facets on her cobalt jewels, casting an aura around her. Gauran gulped and looked back down into the creek, hoping that Azirite had not seen the flush suffuse his pale face.
"There you are, my gem." he heard Azuran's voice through the trees, and Azirite lightly leapt from her perch and trotted off to join her mate. Watching his charge leave with his friend and mentor, Gauran couldn't help the tight squeeze of his envious heart.
***
Later that evening, as he drug a sack filled with glittering silver fish back into the clan grounds, he thought he saw a flicker of pale fur. Azurite was curled around the base of an oak tree. For a moment he stopped, prepared to offer her assistance or just to speak with her, his connection to his charge throbbing with compassion. Then he stopped, a hollow pit opening in his stomach as he realized she was tucking leaves and moss around three softly glowing seed-pod eggs. With an aching heart, he disappeared into the undergrowth before she could see him.
***
He crept slowly down the path, the scent of panther anole filling his nostrils. Although not much of a hunter, his favourite lizard was too much to pass up and he stalked the poor creature to the best of his ability. A sudden yell broke his concentration, and sent the orange reptile scuttling into the bushes. He swore as he lost his prey and whipped around to see Azirite and Azuran storming through the wood.
"They're my eggs and I decide what happens to them!"
"We can't afford the extra mouths, Azirite. I don't want to lose them either, but it's better to send them to the Gladekeeper than watch them starve!"
"I will starve before my children will!"
Gauran slid into the darkness, watching the two clan leaders quarrel. A nearby Zalis was startled into flight as Azirite gave an incredibly high pitched screech. Soon, Azuran stomped off through the undergrowth, leaving Azirite to seeth among the trees. As night began to fall, Gauran slowly edged his way out of his bush and approached the Tsarina. She jerked as he snapped a twig, whirling around with an accusation waiting on her tongue.
"Gauran?" she asked, the rage draining from her features. "I thought you were Azuran." slowly, Gauran lowered himself to lay beside her. He reached out one paw, laying it gently atop hers. She looked up at him, eyes wide, and burst into tears.
***
The clan was gathered in the center of the lair, massive tree roots surrounding them in a circular space and the huge, dripping blossoms of the Gardens dangling overhead. Azirite and Azuran stood on a flat-topped boulder.
"Gauran, step forward." Azirite called out. The Guardian nudged his way through the crowd and came to a halt at the base of the stone plinth.
"All things must come to an end." Azuran said, his rumbling voice tinged with regret. "Like the many ages before us, before dragonkind came to dwell on Sornieth. Like my time as clan leader." He looked down at Gauran. "But all things must also have a beginning. This is your beginning." He descended from the stone, and indicated that Gauran was to climb atop it. Azirite smiled as he joined her on the boulder. Azuran looked out over the clan assembly. "Eryn'dar, your new Tsar."
Gauran did not hear the cheers. All he felt was Azirite's warmth beside him as she pressed her side against his. She smiled up at the Guardian, and then handed him a small bundle. He took the offering, and untied it with shaking claws. As the wrapping fell, he saw the beautiful clasp, studded with polished knots of amber.
"I choose you as mate." whispered Azirite.
