Though he was born of ice, Nihon has a heart of fire. He is kind and gentle in personality, a stark contrast to his gloomy companion, Sousuke, but physically he is strong and he is skilled in the ways of combat.
Nihon was born in the Empire in the Desert, a distinguished clan in the Southern Icefield, but he was sent away not long after his birth to live with an illustrious clan of swordsman in the Sunbeam Ruins. He was taken in by Tei and his mate, Hei, until, like many other young dragons of the clan, he was sent away once again to the Highland Scrub. There he would learn the ways of the clan ancestors and the sword. At first, the lessons were easy and he spent much of his time bickering and rivaling with Sousuke, Tei's son. he was always at a notch higher than Sousuke, putting the clan heir in the dirt with ease. But as they went on, the lessons became exhausting and hard. Many times Nihon almost lost his life to the elements, but his will to live and continue on kept him alive. He and Sousuke grew, mastering the arts and lessons and becoming fine swordsmen, but their new skills were soon to be tested. An attack was amounted on their clan. Nihon fought hard, but they were pitted against magic users that could attack from distances. In the fray, Nihon rescued his rival from death, slaying the mage that was going to end Sousuke's life. He told him to live, that if anything, they had to be what was left. And they were... The battle was lost and their clan destroyed. Tei and his mate were captured as gifts for the Lightweaver, but were assassinated by rogues who believed them to be too dangerous for the deity's lands. Nihon left the lands of his clan with Sousuke at his side. They abandoned the honor and glory they had once been taught and they took up their swords for money to survive. Nihon was a fine negotiator and he learned swiftly how to talk his way into what he wanted. Sousuke was his right claw and his partner and together they did unspeakable things in order to live It was like this for years, fighting or stealing, swindling or killing, you name it. If the price was right, they would do it. But it all came to a screeching halt when Nihon met Hokkaido. She was the daughter of a noble and his commoner mistress, but she was beautiful and she was an amazing dancer. She was also clever. Many a times Nihon met her during his stay in the Ashfall Waste and every time she swindled him out of his money. He fell for her, but she could never love a dragon who lived in blood and darkness. Nihon quit his ways for Hokkaido, courted her, but she would not accept him as her mate until he made peace with Clan Ahwnin's Exalt. When he met Darrow, he was blown away by his kindness and peaceful ways. It spurred Nihon to wish to learn the way of his clan, not just for Hokkaido, but for himself. He offered his sword to Darrow and his clan and he was accepted with open arms. He settled in with surprising ease and Hokkaido became his mate. Together they bore children, Tokyo, Nagasaki, and Komaki and Nihon's life has been full of light ever since. |
