Scent: Very subtle, hardly any scent at all.

Personality: Calm, collected, mature, responsible, experienced.

Mate: None.

______ A large, dark shape overlooks the valley. An imperial. This one is battlescarred and heavy, with large claws and curved teeth. An imposing figure. Other dragons move away, eyes averted- nothing that could be seen as aggression. They don't want to fight. The beast doesn't acknowledge them. No need. Those worth his time won't scurry away under his intense gaze. They'll seek him out.

He spent his entire life fighting, training, improving himself. Sometimes, it's not pride he feels when he regards himself and his achievements. What would life have been like, if he'd focused on bonds and finding simple happiness instead of a chasing an ever-changing image of someone who doesn't need to rely on others. A vicious circle, isolation, to not need others, which in turn leads to isolation. He wanted to rise above others- at what point did he become a tool for others to pay for and use? Another faceless silhouette in the mass of warriors fighting with little to no cause? Did he squander the opportunities he was given? Did the happiest moments of his life pass as he was distracted with improvement and work? He wasted the precious, easy times of his life surrounded by apathy.

Not that he has voiced these thoughts to anyone. He hardly understands them himself.

One day he left his old life. He doubts anyone missed him. Maybe they didn't even notice. Easily replaced by another sell-sword or hireling. That's all he was good for or known for. If he was even good or known. He was old now. He'd try to recover what he had lost; carelessly wasted when he was younger, confronted with life-changing choices he didn't understand. A new start, while he had some time left.

He spent longer than he'd like to admit wandering the wilds, moping, thinking about what he could have had. In the end, he had just become another nobody again. Not the new start he'd wanted.

As he continued on, he heard about other towns and places. He chose a tiny settlement out in the desert. Small. He could get to know everyone there. He could help. When he arrived, he kept a cool, collected air around him. Friendlier than he'd ever been. Calm. What he'd wanted to be before. Eventually, it wasn't an act. With his new friends and family, he'd manged to change. He didn't even realise at first- but it was what he had wanted. He was... happy?

Yes. Happy.

The life he had wanted. The life he could help others have now.
