Dragonfruit was hatched small and weak. Most dragons expected little of him and they didn't bother with him at all. And when he tried to stay with his mother, the other hatchlings would teased him. So he grew up alone, with few friends to keep him company. As he got older, the loneliness started to eat at him and he couldn't muster the courage to tell anyone about it. So he would go out by himself to the river that flowed by the clan and cut gashes in his skin as the pain within him seemed to flow out through the wounds. He did this in secret for a long time, always finding ways of covering up the scars with flowers he found along the riverbank. After a while, the habit died away as the pain became a dull ache that he lived with day to day.

He grew much more as he became an adult and ended up as a strong, handsome dragon. During winter, when the Ice and Fire flights were having an epic battle for dominance, the leaders of the clan put out the fodder sale list and, when Dragonfruit glanced at the paper, he realized that his name was on it. The world seemed to crash down on him and he fled far away and found himself back at the riverbank. He tried to stop himself, but his old habit seemed like it could never be part of the past. And when he saw the blood staining the water, he wanted nothing more then to spill the rest of it. These thoughts shook him for a long time while he lay there at the bank, more miserable then he had ever been in his life.

Finally, he managed to pick himself up again and crawl back to his clan. Without even thinking, he found his mother and approached her den. When she saw him in the entrance, tear streaked and bleeding, she ushered him in and asked him what was wrong. Before he could stop himself, he was telling her everything, pouring out his entire heart. When he was done, she merely wrapped herself around him and comforted him. She spoke softly about how much she loved him and how she knew this new clan and new life would be better for him. He slept with her that night, his heart warm and his mind tired, but peaceful.

The next morning, when the dragon from Ice came to collect the fodder, Dragonfruit's mother gave him new flowers to cover his scars and he decided to put on his best face. After all, he had nothing to lose. When the dragon, Asimona, inspected the dragons she was selling, Dragonfruit smiled at her and asked her if it's true that Winter's Delight was so sweet in the winter. She paused and stared at him for a moment before taking them to the Icefields without another word. When it was Dragonfruit's turn to be trained, he became friends with Fallen Angel and helped her and Midnight with their problems. Asimona noticed his behavior and, with Manami's suggestion, offered a place for him in their clan.

Dragonfruit quickly became the clan favorite - he was always there for the dragon's that needed a friend and a smile to cheer them up. The smile Dragonfruit always wore quickly turned into a real one, and a beautiful one at that. He sparked so many positive changes in the clan, they probably would have disbanded without him. Asimona would always call him to her cave and he would help her through her problems. He was never happier and content with the love that always surrounded him.

Personality

Dragonfruit is delightful and sweet, just like the berries he loves so much. He always spreads love and joy wherever he goes. He can be carelessly optimistic, sometimes to the point of naivety, but it usually helps since he's so often surrounded by pessimists. But when times get serious, he knows to get serious and will always be there to lend an ear and a gentle hug.

Cave

Slightly lower than Asimona's, with a few bushes of Winter’s Delight growing just outside. Inside is decorated with small magic lights, paintings from Infinity, and other crafts that were obviously made by the other dragons. It looks like he tried to make space for everything, but it didn't work out too well. He has an extra bedding for dragons of the clan that will sometimes crawl into his cave to escape their night terrors. Otherwise, the only other thing there are a few full sacks of dark red berries (take a guess).

Magic

Dragonfruit never had the capability for magic, but the clan's overexposure caused him to develop a heightened sense, but none of the ordinary ones. He can tell what a dragon is feeling. It gets stronger and more complex when they are closer with his farthest range being a simple emotion while the closest can almost being like stepping into their conscious. Thankfully, he can ignore this.

Role

Dragonfruit doesn't have an official role in the clan, but Asimona and Manami value his advice above all else. He has a great say in what happens with the clan and many dragons see him as almost an unofficial therapist.
