The Scion of Frost tutored Iylic of Ulic of Lix.
Bursa underestimated the Reveler of Shade.
Bursa was aware of the Scion of Frost's pursuers, and sneered to see yet another prince cower in the face of his younger kin. Pathetic. No matter, she would rout them. Ulic had been working with the Frost Prince to confirm the obvious theory of Plague resilience to, among all things, the Shade, so it's safe to assume she wouldn't be needing Minerva's little Earth wards, or all the advice the cowardly Prince had to offer. How much trouble could one sticky little Tundra cause?
-
As Bursa hung upside-down, arms and wings gummed to her sides by matte tar, she considered she may have underdone her recon for this mission. She'd underestimated the Shadeling's field of vision as she flew above its head, owing to an underestimation of the size of this "little" Tundra.
"You're rather very lucky my mistress the Priestess isn't here around, as she's far less patient than I with all you little pebbles and flakes, and now pus-pops, itching to snatch me away again. No, this time I'll snatch myself away, and you can stay right here, how's that?"
The Imperial-sized Tundra dropped the globe of dark slime enveloping the Guardian, and it splatted to the ground. With a giggle, the Tundra's dark form shimmered, then dissipated.
Limbs too gummed up to move an inch, nostrils free to breathe but maw glued shut, Bursa glared a hole in the ground above her. Whoever came looking for her, she hoped it wasn't one of the damned princes.
Hunter Nula introduced a Molten Wartoad to Gambler Vak
"Sure I'm sure, just look at the them curvy horns, how he's all small and yellowish. Hate to break it to ya, oh mighty hunter, but all you done is chase down somebody's pet guard frog. The wild ones make for more than a clawful; they got blisters his size." He handed the frog back to the mirror.
"Oh, good eye, High Sha'vak! Trypha shall be most pleased to hear of your native expertise on the matter of its origin."
Vak tipped his cap with a chuckle,"It'd better be a good eye, it's the only one I got left!"
Beast Tracker Swak misidentified The Stargazer.
Below him, six Slatehides hunkered low in the night's cooling sand, awaiting his all-clear. He channeled the enchantments in his footpads and sprung silently upon a higher bump in the cliff face. He peeked up over the lip of the rock face at the tail of his distracted target, the pink-eyed spy aiming sinister metal gadgets towards the lair entrance.
He readied a gust beneath him, vaulted over the intruder, and landed four feet first on their spy gear, metal and glass snapping.
"My spyglass!" She shrieked.
"So you are spy! I knew it!"
-
"So she's not a spy? How was he supposed to know that for the first time ever, Arcanes are just free to totter in and work their magic, when you Grits can't stand 'em? Centuries old bias just up n' reverses in the span o' one migration? And that's on him, for watching out for you lot? You can take your 'grave cross-cultural offenses' and you can-"
"That's good, Blok. No prob, yer Highbloodedness, I'll be more careful in the future."
The Plague Umbra had a Bad Result with The Bowbanded Exile
"Bright morn to you, Safeguard!" The pale nocturne sang as he opened his rear claws and dropped a scroll onto Mentha's head. "The Umbral Court sends its obliging regards."
Mentha snorted the parchment off her face. "Oblige further, and get lost." She waited until the Light Umbra was out of range of her glare before popping the seal and scanning though the Court's meeting notes.
"0.2, 36th evening of the month of mistral jamboree '34
umbras present: earth, fire, wind, water, shadow, ice, lightning, light, nature, plague
penumbra everpresent
earth had nothing to report
fire had nothing to report
wind had nothing to report
water had nothing to report
ice had nothing to report
lightning witnessed shava's contractors proceed 0.3nts behind schedule on their threshold aperture installation project, cite estimate +75,000t increased materials cost and 1 day delay for additional material import through sprx untd. lrs.
light had nothing to report
plague witnessed sabotage of umbral court designated activity at the hands of the offending slatehide snapper troupe. plague was attacked by a female snapper with slate hide and purple-range markings during his soil amendment generating duties, plant matter redistribution chute blocked by spellcast earthen magicks. awaiting labor redistribution to amend blockage."
"No Shadow, as usual, like that's supposed to spook me. As if Lek isn't already lying about the rest. Slatehides might have some issues with Grit Clan, but they wouldn't stink their place with turnip-rot, just to fumigate us. Not unless there's some holy Returnist injunction against growin' crops, along with all the rest they got against the modern world. Or if it's true, could be that Trotter gal, out to spite the Slates, hitting us, but then the Umbrals blame the Slates on accident.. And I gotta de-thorn the whole bushel." She sighed and set off towards the garden.
Interrogator Xylic had a bad result with First Son of Second Blood Rokk
"Rokk."
"Are you... speaking to me?"
"Rokk Rokk."
Xylic stared at the muddy outstretched claw thrust in greeting between him and his private dining quarters. How had a lowblood even gotten in here? With a flick of his tail, the pest was removed.
-
Well, pardon, Helm, it escaped my notice that we'd started handing out honorary drips of highblood.
Slatehide Known By Slatewing Whose Belly Roars The Loudest, Devout Returner, kept equal footing as Geomancer Diana
Lark awoke and wriggled out from beneath Dia's wing. Though he didn't mind his mate's preference for bedding among the commoners, he didn't see the point in letting their eserved quarters go to waste. He rushed from the public sleep warren to his private study among the High Primes. There he reviewed some notes from the arrival of the Slatehide's latest migration.
" Slatehide Taboo: body covering,
some won't even speak to me if I don't remove my coat, hat, scarf and first. Others would speak freely, but with laughter in their eyes, pity in their tone, having made their measure of my moral worth from inseam to hemline.
physical: no forge could temper a helmet harder than a snapper skull, for certain... or whatever heavy plating could rival their thick hides would only encumber their already slow forms past the point of mobility
practical: recognition tied to slight physical differences, wing freckles, hide weathering.
symbolic: the more a dragon bares his hide, the less he proves he has to hide. bare butts, bare souls.
spiritual: that their Diety may see them as He made them, unadorned, unashamed
I should've warned my child not to rush in, her gold and copper beneath silk and satin.
She genuinely assumed the Slatewing, having wandered lost into the shardstorm, was in need of her assistance. Took significant concentration to cast the L-6 GeoWard around herself, and make progress through the storm beneath it. But all she found was a chuckling Slatehide, sat firm in the swirling shards, glad of the free slicing job the storm was making of the tallest local prickleleaf, hoovering up chucks of cactus."
Gob Double Prime gained ground on Goldenfringe
Goldenfringe complained to his mate Greyfeather that the, when Lek sent him to foster Noc-Gob Solidarity, Gob Double Prime whipped out its tongue and stole his hat.
The Ebony Uskguard lost ground to Clan-Daughter Dia
The Ebony Uskguard of the North caught a Beastclan on border patrol, but their interrogation was cut short when High Prime Dia released their captive, and returned the Harpy prince to her daughter's side, after chastising the Uskguard.
First Second Son Rokk lost a fight due to Low Delma
Rokk tried to insist his son LaClaMa should be permitted to stay within the clan, but was denied in accordance with Low Delma's reputation.
Vak's One Good Eye
While grateful for the metal leg, Vak refuses Shava's offer to test a replacement mechanical eyeball, as he's fine with his a tinted monocle over his eye patch, makes for an inscrutable bluff at the cards table.
Hold Ground
Bjarnik exchanges favors with the Nature Umbra
The Nature Umbra requests from Bjarnik a reading of the range she makes with her with her mate, the Plague Umbra. In return, she provides the brood attendants with sweet-smelling flowers for calming fussy hatchlings.
