Lucifer

There are lies and there are truths, and Lucifer deals in an extensive dose of the latter. Many rumors surround the fiery eyes and blood-colored wings of this skydancer, not all of them nice. In fact, none of them are nice rumors. Lucifer is an older dragon with a tightly guarded past. No dragon near him knows where he hatched or to what family. With his regal bearing and his ability to speak in any situation it isn't a far-fetched thought that he may be of royal descent, perhaps cast out for reasons unknown. Living in the tangled wood has only added to his mystery as Lucifer can not be found if he doesn't want to be. His story starts somewhere in the world, bright and brimming with possibilities. Perhaps he is the son of a Regent, destined for greatness in his home flight. He has many teachers and servants in his palaces and he learns many things that will help him in his position of power and responsibility. There is something missing in his life, and he finds the system in place to be limiting and harmful. Something needs to be done, and he takes his position of power into his own claws to fix what he sees is broken. There is outrage in his land, his Regent parents are summarily placed into a tough position, and Lucifer becomes the fallen child, destined for a life of exile away from the glittering life of possibilities that had laid before him just days ago. He wanders lost, confused, and hurt, until he stumbles into the Tangled Wood and his new life. There are many possibilities for a well-educated skydancer and out here, in the wild far from the structure of his home flight, he can practice the laws he finds fair. Out here, in the Tangled Wood, he begins plotting to return to his home. It is a rumor that Lucifer quite likes, preening over it with a content tilt to his head whenever he hears. But it is just a rumor - or is it? No dragon can deny that the smooth-talking skydancer can get anything he wants. Although he doesn't have much compassion for those around him, he never lies or tricks to get reach his goals. Words and actions alone are enough to get him anything. He frequently travels to find what he desires, bringing him far from the Tangled Wood. While wandering the Southern Icefields, he came upon a half-frozen pearlcatcher in the snow. Her frostbitten face and claws gave him pause, thinking she must be dead or close to it, although something kept him from moving on. When she came to her feet and confronted him, there was an immediate spark of loyalty. The powerful aura of the skydancer and the strange, powerful magic of the demonic pearlcatcher caught on like a wildfire. Cailleach became his second in command, taking his orders without question and seeming to understand his motives as well as he did. Unsettling at first, Lucifer found it more and more alluring as he began needing to speak his mind to her less and less. Now, the ice wraith of a pearlcatcher does his bidding almost before he asks her to do them. Through all his travels and his steady gain in infamy, Lucifer has never strayed far from his true path. His calculating mind is always looking for the next step in achieving his goals, whether that be at the expense of others or on the backs of his closest comrades. There is a thirst for vengeance at the wrongdoings thrust upon him and very little will stand in his way once he unleashes his full fury. One thing that may topple him to the ground is his arrogant nature and his firmly held belief that he is smarter than every dragon he has ever come across. |
