What a burden... what a curse... to be present at the forming of the world.
He is ageless. Fathomless, ancient- a being suspended in time. (When God is no longer needed, where does He go? When His infinite wisdom and crafter's hands are useless, when His creation powers on, ferocious, unimpeded, what is He to do?) The Universe beckons and He responds, in His own time, and in the form that He sees fit. He sleeps and the worlds go on alone. He rises and the galaxies quake. He takes no interest in the affairs of the mortal, the immortal, the shade, for all are beneath His sight. He drifts among the stars, and is content.  The first god, the only God, largely impersonal, violent and cunning, clever and patient, vast and elusive: hardly established, unrecognized; prayers go unanswered. Willing to use anything and anyone to further a purpose once one is chosen. The first Being to crawl from the ashes of the forming Universe, Yule has always been the first and remains alone throughout the centuries. He watched the greater gods and deities pull themselves together out of starstuff and aether, and even assisted a few as they went, when he was younger, lonelier, kinder- he has seen them grow, learn, change, love, evolve. He's watched how they handle the worlds, and left them to their own devices. For him to get involved in anything, it would have to be universal- his interest is rarely piqued but his passions run deep and wild. Loneliness and solitude work wonders on the mind of a god- more still on a mad one. For that is what he is, underneath, an undercurrent like tainted blood steaming in his celestial veins: an intellectual madman. Hungry for anything that turns his exhausted eyes. |
