Mate: None.
There was once a time in which the clan had nearly fallen. It is rarely spoken of now, but the memory of it still silently haunts those who were there to experience the lair's close demise. It began with a rebellion and ended with a new Queen, but the in-between consisted of days which were plagued with disarray. Tensions were soaring among the higher ranking members as their positions within the clan were threatened, most often leaving the weaker members among them to fend for themselves or perish as they fought to hold onto their own privilege. For those who were dim or frail, or otherwise less inclined to take advantage of the changing ranks, life within the clan was a miserable onslaught of backstabbing and isolation. For many, the will to continue onward was gone, snuffed out of them like dirt on a flame. Dragons were leaving. Some were dying.
In an attempt to escape the depressing atmosphere of the lair, Hilda, the sole surviving daughter of a rebel, fled to the outskirts of their territory. No one had even noticed her initial absence. At other times she would wander away from the safety of her home in search of her long lost brothers, only for her father to eventually come to fetch her. The young Coatl thought that perhaps this time she would continue onward and never return. There had to be more to the world than the wasteland where she had been raised. With a nervous breath, Hilda took one step into their neighboring clan's territory, and then another. There were a great number of nasty outcomes which such recklessness could have brought onto the young Coatl, but Hilda was thankfully never given the chance to encounter them. What she did encounter was a soft and muffled cry. Within the rotting flesh and bones of a fallen beast, a tiny hatchling had been abandoned.
He was a weak, squirming little thing with his feathers still wet from the egg he had been pried from. The babe had been left to die, Hilda concluded. It had been left to a fate far worse than her own dismal existence. Seeing such vulnerable innocence tossed so carelessly aside placed things into perspective. Life within clan Varius was most often miserable and bleak. She was born into harshness, the worst that the clan had ever faced. The future may not have seemed bright at that time, but at least there was a future to be had. Some, evidently, were not even given that much. Hilda took the hatchling into her scaled arms and returned home. New life and new blood was gladly welcomed into the clan. They named him Uruz. Strength, which was something that the clan desperately needed.
A year has since passed and Uruz is now a valued member of the clan-- A clan which no longer struggles as it had before.
He is considered a luck charm of sorts and is often required to be present during important matters such as negotiations with other clans and on battles between clan Varius and their enemies.
