Backstory
Amberlyn used to live happily in a nature clan. She had a mate she had left her birth clan to be together with. She had a family, children she loved who went to find homes of their own. However, it was not to last. One day, a fire struck while she was hunting with her mate, and she was caught in the blaze. Her mate abandoned her to die.

Amberlyn was too injured to return to the clan, both emotionally and physically. She dragged herself away, and ended up finding her way to a clan on the river. There, her wounds were tended to. She didn't talk to anyone, and as soon as she was well enough to travel, she left in the dead of the night.

Amberlyn spent a long time traveling, never making any permanent connections, never settling down in a clan for long. All the changed when she met Aristotle. He started out as just her friend, but it quickly grew to something more. Amberlyn couldn't imagine life without him. He made her laugh for the first time since the accident, and with time, she grew out of the walls she had built around her. Enough so that when she found out they were going to have their first nest, she gave up her traveling lifestyle and settled in a small wind clan to raise their children.

Their family swiftly grew, until generations upon generations off their offspring filled the clan. Amberlyn almost forgot her scars, but she never forgot the bravery that had been demanded of her. She made sure to encourage her descendants to be their best selves, and to never give up, no matter what tragedy befell them. Little did she know that was advice she herself would need to take once again.

When Clan Yonder fell, Amberlyn was one of the few survivors. She lost the very thing she had grown to care about most: her family. She followed Sacredscream and the other survivors to their new clan, but she never really felt at home there, and took to going on longer and longer journeys, half-returning to the nomadic lifestyle she had adopted after the fire. She barely even kept track of the family she had left, many many generations beyond her own children and grandchildren.

When Sacredscream got the letter announcing Fenn and Elric's return, Amberlyn found her purpose again. She journeyed with him to the newly built clan, where she took up a new job and found a new purpose. She still was without a mate, no one could replace Aristotle, but she once again found her family, a family that is still growing.



Personality
Amberlyn is fiery and warm. She knows what it means to have to be brave, even if she didn't feel very brave. Because she has known much loss and trauma, she is quick to jump to the aid of those who have also experienced such things and need a loving, encouraging support.

Amberlyn has a tendency to withdraw to deal with her own emotions, cutting herself off from others and spending her days traveling, where she does not have to devote herself to those who may leave or be lost. It often takes the care of another dragon to pull her out of this and remind her where her heart it.

The most important thing to Amberlyn is family, and she certainly has a lot of it. Though many of her family members reside outside the clan, she does have a sizable family within the clan too, and it is growing. To Amberlyn, family goes beyond blood relation, and even if those who are of her bloodline wander far off the beaten path, Amberlyn is always prepared to welcome them home. After all, she knows what it is like to feel without a place.



Current Life
Amberlyn has a flat on the top of Windkeep Tower, and she and Carmen work to keep the beacon flame alight, so passing dragons know where to find shelter and care, regardless of the time. She took Carmen under her wing after seeing the state the skydancer was in after her trauma, and Amberlyn is helping her work through it.

When she is not working, Amberlyn spends time with her family. She has particularly become close with Oriel, who is the mother of some of Amberlyn's descendants. As Amberlyn helped the younger wildclaw raise her hatchlings, she has become very much like a mother to Oriel, and it is often the two of them who fight the hardest to support their family.
